Dear compatriots!
These days we have, together, gone through a terrible test. All our thoughts were with the hostages, in the hands of armed vermin. We hoped for the best outcome, but each of us understood, that it is necessary to be ready for the worst.
Today the rescue operation of this morning is done.
It was possible to do almost the impossible - to rescue the lives of hundreds, hundreds of people. We have proved, that Russia cannot be put on her knees.
But now I first of all want to address the families and relatives of those who were lost.
We could not rescue them all.
Forgive us.
Let the Memory of the victims unite us.
I thank all the citizens of Russia for their endurance and unity. Special gratitude to everyone who participated in the rescue operation. Special thanks to the employees of the special divisions who, without hesitation, risking their own lives, struggled for the rescue of the hostages.
We are grateful also to our friends all over the world, for their moral and practical support in our struggle against the same enemy. This enemy is strong and dangerous, brutal and severe. It is international terrorism. While it is not defeated, anywhere in the world, people can not feel safe.
But it should be defeated. And it will be defeated.
Today in the hospital I talked to one of victims. He said to me "It was not that terrible - there was a confidence among us, that the future of the terrorists is not enduring." And this is the truth. They do not have a future. We do.
Sorry, but I don't see diplomats standing
behind the troops who ringed the building
as being heroes. To do so demeans the heroism
of those such as the soldiers who rushed in not
knowing if the building would be brought down
on their heads.
Needs repeating. I wish our givernment would straight out admit they were wrong when they took the wrong side in Kosovo, and Chechnya. That it was wrong when it enabled Saddam with biological/chemical warfare materials during the Iran/Iraq war.
Dem's fightin words right there. Don't piss off ex-KGB!
But there are still so many over here who call the ruthless Chechen bandits "freedom fighters", and cite Russia for "human rights violations" in Chechnya. And they continue to do this despite the fact that Chechen bandits were among our most implacable enemes in Afghanistan, and they even threatened Afghans with death if they tried to surrender after our troops had thoroughly beaten them.
Now we have this theater hostage incident. Unlike the apartment buildings that were blown up in Moscow, the Chechen bandit "vermin" were there for all to see plainly, doing their dirty work of terrorism and mass murder!!!!
What excuses will the Slavophobic and Orthodox-phobic pseudo-intellectual "vermin" in the press and the State Department come up with now to exonerate their muslim savage pets? Or will they finally TURN THEIR MINDS AROUND and start speaking the truth? Inquiring minds would like to know!!!!
Can't blame this on one the FSB, can they? :-)
Great line...
And we defended the islamofascists in Kosovo, don't forget...
Our foreign policy needs some serious updating.
Yes, Putin is an Orthodox Christian.
Yes, ALL of us, regardless of nationality. We are all in this TOGETHER.
"...there was a confidence among us, that the future of the terrorists is not enduring."
This is spirit. This is what we Americans believe we are made of. One day soon we will realise that in this new world, the Russians are our Brothers (and sisters).
ROCK ON, VLAD!!!
The words are awesome, and I hope that they become as much a part of the heritage of the Russian people as Lincoln's Gettysburg Address has become for us here.
