While most political parties -- particularly third parties -- fight for more publicity, California's Libertarians might have wanted a bit less in 2002. The state Libertarian Party's leadership disowned gubernatorial candidate Gary David Copeland last month after Copeland spit upon Los Angeles KABC-AM radio host Brian Whitman.
Basically, Copeland and Whitman argued over whether undocumented immigrants should be eligible for California driver's licenses.
Copeland called Whitman a racist.
Whitman called Copeland a lunatic.
Whitman shut off Copeland's microphone and insulted him.
Copeland expectorated.

We don't allow foreigners or felons to run for public office. Perhaps we should expand the prohibitions to exclude people with obvious psychiatric problems. Although this would have a deleterious effect on the Libertarian Party, no one would really notice the difference, and it would be an important principle to uphold.

We don't allow foreigners or felons to run for public office. Of course we do. A Republican felon (wearing a leg transmitter) was admitted into the Congress in 1998. Marion Barry...gee there are quite a few. And "foreigners" are certainly allowed to run for public office once they have been naturalized. One does not have to be born in the U.S. to run for public office. Where do you get your information anyway?

Naturalized citizens aren't "foreigners." Your attempts to redefine words in order that your sycophants don't look stupid, is amusing.

There is a growing movement among the leftists to allow convicted felons to vote, even while they're in prison. Perhaps the Gary "the Spitter" Copeland could take it a step further and campaign to permit illegal aliens to vote as well as to get driver's licenses.

The last time I saw those lunatics they were going around saying government doesn't work, but it does and that's why nobody can take them seriously. Sometimes the problem with government is how and why it works the way it does, but government does work. Sometimes the problem with government is who owns it, but government does work. The government, in spite of itself, tracked down and got the snipers. The libertarian candidate for governor in iowa is virtually indistinguishible from the green party candidate for govenor and those 2 are hardly recognizable as anything other than left wing extremest nuts.

In MA, the libertarians have put question "1" on the ballot. Question 1 would end the MA income tax. There are no republicans in MA in or running for office who support ending the income tax. If that isn't an indictment on republicans, nothing is.

That measure is being pushed by the notorious nutcase Carla Howell, the Libertarian candidate for governor.
The Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation, which opposes the ballot question, said it would eliminate 60 percent of state taxes, "throwing the state budget into chaos, and jeopardizing the state's bond rating. No one likes paying taxes, but that's how we pay for basic services like schools and teachers, health care, environmental protection, local aid that funds police and fire protection, nursing homes for the elderly, human services and infrastructure."

Typical republican response. Keep trying. Eventually you'll be right about something. Someday.
