We don't allow foreigners or felons to run for public office. Perhaps we should expand the prohibitions to exclude people with obvious psychiatric problems. Although this would have a deleterious effect on the Libertarian Party, no one would really notice the difference, and it would be an important principle to uphold.

Of course we do. A Republican felon (wearing a leg transmitter) was admitted into the Congress in 1998. Marion Barry...gee there are quite a few. And "foreigners" are certainly allowed to run for public office once they have been naturalized. One does not have to be born in the U.S. to run for public office. Where do you get your information anyway?

There is a growing movement among the leftists to allow convicted felons to vote, even while they're in prison. Perhaps the Gary "the Spitter" Copeland could take it a step further and campaign to permit illegal aliens to vote as well as to get driver's licenses.
