WHITMAN - A man who ignored a veterinarian's order to flush his cat's radioactive waste down the toilet was hit with a $2,800 bill. And Bill Jenness said he's happy to pay it.
''I don't feel I was mistreated,'' Jenness told The Patriot Ledger of Quincy. ''It's my cat, my responsibility, and I did not abide by the directions I was given.''

I have often thought, when cleaning out my own cat's litter box, that this stuff got to be radioactive. On the bright(snicker) side, he won't be tripping over her in the dark real soon.

Should have learned from "Alice's Restaurant."

I think one of my co-workers should qualify for this fine. The bathroom is unenterable for like an hour.

Oh yeah it would have been much better to flush it and let it enter the water supply. Sheesh.

The radiation treatment by Radiocat in Waltham and cost of disposing of the waste totaled about $5,000.For $5000 it better shit gold!

''I don't feel I was mistreated,'' Jenness told The Patriot Ledger of Quincy. ''It's my cat, my responsibility, and I did not abide by the directions I was given.''Well now that's something you don't hear everyday! Imagine that... someone taking personal responsibility! Most likely a Republican...

Reminds me of one of the (few) great Richard Pryor lines..."What crawled up yo ass and died in there??"

Which of these cats is radioactive?

This is an example of a fairly common problem, disposal of waste in the garbage (or trash) before the radioactivity has had sufficient time to decay below the level of concern.
The most common variation involves nursing homes, where aging patients are commonly given nuclear medicine scans (bone scans, liver scans, lung scans, cardiac studies, etc.) Since these patients are frequently incontinent, they where disposable garments such as Depends.
Most of the studies are done, using Technetium-99m as the tracer isotope. Technetium-99m has a 6 hour half-life. So, the general rule is to hold the waste for 30 half-lives (2 to the minus 30 is about one billionth), before releasing it to the general trash. However, some of the nursing homes are careless about how long they hold the waste.
The net result is the garbage truck setting off the radiation alarm, when it enters the waste transfer facility.

LOL!!!

But Thomas Burnett, a Whitman public works commissioner, said any radiation in trash is too much.
I guess now we can't throw away potatos, bananas, cigarette butts or smoke detectors.
