4. The best beer in the northern hemisphere, clearly superior to American brew. You'll have to prove that to me. =]
I'll stack up the Old Dominion Brewing Company's products against any in the world... but I'll have to state up front that they're mostly top-fermented and warm conditioned, not like those lagers the Canucks are so fond of.

Great article. Thanks.

I guess, what bothers many Canadians about the USA, is that next to them, we are a pretty insignificant country which does extremely well only because of our friendship and proximity to America.
Where, exactly, is Canada?
To: NorthernRight
Guess I better ping 'im for his usual dose of "Canuckistan". Not this time
Great article, thanks for the ping

From the Molson web site:
"Let your Molson do the talking. Because every time you choose Molson, you're sending strong signals to everyone around you. Drinking Molson says you're a man's man, one who appreciates a premium Canadian import. It says you're a rugged, adventurous alpha male. You've been around the block. You know the score. But, you could still use a few tools to help you close the deal. Think of Molson as your wingman, the ultimate icebreaker. Enter. Enjoy. Repeat." ![](http://www.molson.com/usa/chiller_beach/images/bg_left.jpg)
THANK YOU CANADA FOR THE BEST BEER IN THE WORLD!!!

What holds Canada back? This thread inspired me to go look up some numbers, and I found about what I expected to find: compared to a U.S. state of the same size, Canada's economic performance is about half. Accoording to this place, Canada's population is about 30 million, and its GNP is $570 billion. California's population is a little larger at 33 million, but its output is double: about $1.3 trillion.
Why? |

"What holds Canada back?"
Well, there is the climate, for one thing. Compare the Canadian economy with our northern tier of states, including Alaska, rather than California. See if the per capita GNP isn't more similar for regions with similar climate and populations.

I got an idea. Let Quebec go its own way and the rest of the Canadian provinces can become states in the United States of America! Chain Ontario to Quebec and you've got yourself a deal.

That's a keeper.
I thank God I grew up with a conservative dad. He came over from Denmark after WW2 so he wasn't indoctrinated by the Canadian system, and that had a big impact on me.
The Canadian people are fantastic, but our current government, and our very system of government, is horrid. I weep to see this nation, with so much potential, fall so short, and I don't see how just electing a new government will fix things (although I hope it will). Things need to get REALLY shaken up, like Alberta (or Quebec) leaving.

I can provide URLs for Canadian pro-US-statehood sites if anyone is interested - there are a number of them. Some are province specific (Albert, USA) and some are all-Canada (United North America). Several have forums where the pros and cons of US statehood are debated. Also search on James Bredin. There is also a Canadian Republican Party starting up (a few years old, maybe).
My point is: there are many more appreciative Canadians and conservative Canadians than their media and government would have us or them believe.

Thank you. Jim Bredin is a frequent contributor to Free Dominion.
There is a separate forum at Free Dominion, on the Republic of Canada, as well as a prominent link to that group.
Any other URL's or links you may have would also be useful.
