Man Accused Of Killing Dog With Pickax
Suspect Says 10-Pound Poodle Scared Him
Posted: 9:27 a.m. EDT October 23, 2002
BALTIMORE -- Police say a Baltimore man killed a 10-pound white toy poodle with a pickax as the dog's owners walked the dog on a leash.
Police documents show the killing occurred Sunday morning as Sheri Divver and George France walked their 2-year-old dog, "Sweetie Poo," (pictured with other family dog, Franky) near their home on Baltimore's west side.
Nearby, Wayne Adger was working in a vacant lot.
Adger says he was upset because the dog had urinated on the edge of the lot a day earlier.
Documents say that after the couple and Adger exchanged words, Adger approached them with the pickax raised.
He then hit the dog in the side with the pickax, throwing the animal in the air and killing her, police say.
Adger told police the dog was barking at him and he was afraid. He says he used the pickax to push her away.
Adger was arrested and charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault and animal cruelty.

Dog does look rather menacing.
The eyes particularly.

Who let the dogs out....who, who, who, who...

Some people are very weird about dogs and cats. My wife's neighbor used to leave dog droppings on her car because she had a dog. Now the dog never went into his yard because she wouldn't let him off his leash on a runner in the backyard. But he was convinced that every dog dropping must have come from that dog.
She threw them onto his porch and he eventually caught a clue.

Probably not the first person to want to do this to a poodle. Especially one with clothes on.

A few years before Russell Krafts ran his wife Helle through a wood chipper in Newtown Connecticut, a guy from Danbury Connecticut through his neighbors German Shepard puppy into one for barking too much. Police speculate that the local media coverage of the dog grinding gave Russell the idea.

Any word whether the "Sweetie-Poo"'s owners were arrested for dressing their dog like that? Talk about animal cruelty . . . Mr. Adger likely put the dog out of her misery.

Poor puppy ... looks like he was the "pick" of the litter too.
