Authorities Search Suspected Terrorist Training Camp

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Search warrants related to the D.C.-area sniper case were served Wednesday in various parts of the country, including the state of Alabama.
Sources told NBC13 that federal authorities from Montgomery were in the city of Marion in Perry County Wednesday night, armed with a warrant, and were searching property.
The search warrants are reportedly for a terror camp called "Ground Zero," which is located in Marion. The camp was discovered earlier this year following the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks in New York.
At the time, authorities thought militants from overseas trained at Ground Zero. There has been no official connection between the camp and the al-Qaida terror network. The owner of the camp said it was a training area for police officers.
NBC13 spoke with camp owner Mark Yates, of Tuscaloosa, who says he knows nothing of any investigation into his camp. Perry County Sheriff James Hood also told NBC13 federal authorities have not contacted him.
The Alabama search warrants were issued hours after authorities started searching a property in Tacoma, Wash. NBC13 has also learned that an Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agent from Alabama is assisting in the investigation in Tacoma.
Sources are describing the issuance of Wednesday's warrants both in Washington state and in Alabama as attempts to follow up on "solid leads."
Developments in this story are unfolding. NBC13 News and NBC13.com will have the latest details on the sniper search and the possible Alabama connection as they become available.
And Rita also said that the camp in Alabama was next to Maryland. Not much for geography, heh Rita?
Also looking for a Chevy Celebrity with Maryland plates. Could someone post that plate number?
Both have big trunks.
The shooter is sociopath, a control freak who kills. He's not interested in Religion or ideology. He's a nutcase. So whats your problem? You just looking for an excuse to kill an arab?
This will get you started on the history and some excellent insights to al Fuqra in America and its ties to Pakistan. Those ties are what led to the murder of Danny Pearl. Danny was in the process of link all of this together. If it had appeared in the Wall Street Journal, most of America would have been awaken to the dangers of this group.
Are you trying to say that the sniper case may expose a domestic 5th column??
You decide:
Warning on this data, don't read it late at night or when you have had a bad day. Nor should you try to go through it more than a 15 to 30 minutes at a time after a good beer or glass of wine with a refill. This is scary and heavy data.
Police Seeking Blue Car and Suspect
Montgomery police say one driver may hold a crucial clue in the investigation of a double shooting that left one woman dead this past weekend.
A gunmen opened fire on two liquor store workers as they were closing up Saturday night. Police have released a sketch of what the killer looks like (see left). Officers say he was wearing khaki shorts and a teal-green shirt. Now police say, one motorist may have the key to bringing the alleged murderer to justice.
A black wreath hangs on the door at the liquor store on Zelda Road. The ABC-owned facility has closed indefinitely. ABC board administrator Randall Smith said, "We have had some robberies before, but I've been here for 21 years and this is the first time we've had someone seriously injured."
After 27 years on the job, 52-year-old Claudine Parker was killed. 24-year-old Kellie Adams was seriously hurt when the gunman opened fire in the parking lot around 7:30 p.m. The workers were outside the store and in the process of locking the door when the shootings occurred.
After the shooting, police say the suspect ran behind Krystal and Captain D's next door, hitting a moving car. They say he placed his hands on the hood. Police describe the car as a blue sedan and they're hoping the driver comes forward.
Quite right Gabby although it would appear that a few of our more PC sensitive FReepers are just as distraught.
I found it most entertaining tonight on FOX when Fuhrman told Michael Baden that he felt it was "ironic" that Baden would have asked him (Fuhrman) last night if he thought white supremacists were behind this. Good to see Mark getting his reputation back these past couple of years.
The media's slathering over Campground Zero ( never acknowledging that LEOs train there as well as basically anybody that wishes to use the place), almost every Pundit desperately grasping for a white/right/militia angle, their utter lack of knowledge about firearms, CNN's refusal at first to refer to John Mohammed as John Mohammed, etc......it's all been rather eyeopening when even FOX plays along to some degree. The media really hasn't a clue do they?
My reasons for hoping this is not another McVeigh repeat are selfish. If the perps are white whether ideological or not, the media and the sheeple will clamour for more RKBA restrictions...no doubt....and it will demonize relatively normal RKBA hard right folks like myself even further one day leading to a bad end I fear between right thinking traditionalists and the freedom usurpers.
