Was that in Portland? Is that pretty near Tacoma? Two hours or less by car.

But the lack of the feds taking this over makes me think that they don't want to handcuff themselves to federal regulations and standards...The feds are in charge and have been for some time. Just not officially yet. You're right, it gets around a lot of red tape stuff.

Whoa- great find!

Well, it would be easier for terrorists to pull something off effectively and inconspicuously in a lot of "lesser" locations and events than in one major one.

I know one thing. Tacoma is very close to Ft. Lewis, WA...home of the 2nd Bn 75th Ranger and 1st Special Forces Group.
Please don't let this be one of the good guys gone bad...

If they're looking for bullet casings, then the grid is so they can keep track of where the casings were found. So far, they aren't talking about any bodies. It sounded like there may have been some bullet casings in the tree stump. Maybe the sniper used to live there and he practiced target shooting in the tree stump.
If it matches his bullets, do you suppose they know who the sniper is? Maybe he'll off himself or they'll get him before he kills again. This situation is definitely drawing to some kind of conclusion imo.
Look at the moving van there on Fox. Why's that moving van in front of the Tacoma house? Does LE use U-Hauls? Anybody hazard a guess on the U-Haul Moving Van?

How/Why would a stump in the middle of a residential neighborhood be used for target practice? Depends on the neighborhood...

Mike Savage says that they were digging up a tree with possible bullets in it.

FBI is reportedly looking for a former Fort Lewis soldier, and that the owner of the duplex is ex-military. Perhaps he lived there?

the grids are to be certain the metal detectors cover all areas... been there.
got a scanner? turn it on the statewide freqs for the largest LEA's in your area.

So they took target practice on the stump I would assume. Is this in a fairly dense redidential area or an isolated area? Seems like neighbors would complain unless something was used to suppress sound.
