A handshake involving former Tennessee governor Lamar Alexander, the state's piano-playing Republican Senate candidate, was under police investigation yesterday after a supporter of Rep. Bob Clement, the Democratic candidate, claimed Alexander twisted his right index finger in the town of Dickson.

I'm a Republican, and I'd be HUMILIATED if Alexander could wreck my hand in a handshake. Nobody has ever confused Lamar with Jesse Ventura or Arnold Schwarzenegger.
