I'm a staunch defender of capitalism and don't begrudge anyone their wealth or success but this bim makes me want to puke.

There is a different standard for the wealthy. If she was poor she would have received a much stiffer penalty.

Can you imagine how much time some impoverished minority would have gotten for the same crime?

Her wealth and success are based on daddy's bankroll and contacts.

In most places here in the U.S. that kind of action would have resulted in charges of Attempted Murder with a deadly weapon.

Seems like if you have enough pull you get away with it. The other case like this,....... Hillary's limo driver.

Why do I keep thinking of the going-away party that Sue Ann Nivens threw for Mary Richards the night before she went to jail for withholding sources?

"Watson is wrong," said Stephen Scaring, Grubman's lawyer. "The police could not have gotten a blood warrant because . . . they were of the opinion she was not intoxicated."

Hmm...inasmuch as she fled the scene and wasn't tracked down until later this strikes me as a sort of odd opinion for a policeman to hold, but in any case they didn't pursue the matter, that much is certain, and they probably ought to have. But drinking coffee is not prima facia evidence of guilt.

Three weeks in the slammer may or may not ruin one's position on the "A" list in the Hamptons - it isn't a crowd that I know much about. One does wonder what constitutes "community service" there, though. Serving canapes to the homeless?

A party, huh? So much more appropriate than contemplating what damage she has wrought. What a dimbulb!

Hillary's driver was hit and run, this was a malicious attempt to harm those on the sidewalk with a heavy vehicle.

2 months is a joke, intoxicated or not. Intoxicated she could claim poor judgement. What's the excuse if she was stone cold sober?

I'd say 20 to life for about 10-15 attempted murders.

Bigolly, Bill, you may just have invented the next great American parlor game. What IS community service in the Hamptons? The floor is open for nominations... here are mine :-)

1) Free carwash for residents of Lilly Pond Lane (upon presentation of proper ID)
2) Free kayaking lessons on Georgica Pond for underprivileged kids from Sag Harbor
3) Meals-on-wheels free pound of lobster salad from Loaves & Fishes to moms exhausted by jogging
4) Providing one free bucket of balls at Maidstone
5) Valet parking at Conscience Point
6) Article in Dan's Paper explaining why anyone who's anyone lives south of the Highway.
7) Join chat groups speculating whose Beach House James Patterson was writing about
8) Hand out Golden Starfish awards at the Hamptons Film Festival
9) Go on shopping, even after a full day's shopping. For instance, Frog Centerpiece,$325 at O Suzanna, Westhampton Beach
10) Sponsor the next Hamptons Designer Showhouse at the Villa Maria in Watermill

Can you imagine how much time some middle-class Jewish schoolteacher would have gotten for this same crime - even though Jewish like Lizzie?

This isn't about race. This isn't about her being Jewish. It's about MONEY.

Bill Clinton will drop by (and pants) as a representative of the "community".

Just remember, if you get drunk and angry at a group of people, you'll get 20 years, 10 if you show good behavior. It pays to pay the judges and be a liberal.

Can't believe the class jealousy here. Instead of Lizzie Grubman the Socialite, how about if we replace her with a 74 year old senior citizen who accidentally stepped on the gas and ran over the sidewalk hitting and injuring a bunch of people. Does anyone think such a heading would have made the news for more than 2 minutes? There is no evidence that she was drunk so what exactly is the states grand charge, that she she was rich and angry when she had her accident. Leaving the scene of the accident sounds more like someone young and scared then anything. In all the stories I hear of people accidentally jumping the curb and hitting and/or killing people this is the first time there was such a stink made about it on the news or people calling them some sort of monster. Cold blooded murderers never got this type of coverage or hatred. It is especially worse when it is condoned and encouraged by the state. Do you really think the state would of only given her 40 days if they thought she did this intentionally and actually has evidence to support such a conclusion? Anytime anyone is sacrificed to the mob
for good press is a time to mourn. She now joins Martha Stewart( no ivan boesky, 40g's is chump change in the finance world with a congressional investigation to boot, the investigation cost 10x more then she made) and Winona Ryder( shoplifting making front page news for months?) as famous women prosecuted far and above the severity of the actual crime. I think they capitalize on the innate dislike of successful women that exists at some subliminal level in the mob and as evidenced by the posts on this topic.
