My idea as to why this scared so many people is simple. Media coverage.

The media wouldn't cover it if it didn't pull in the ratings -- in other words, if *we* didn't want to see it. Media and public are practically inseperable at this point in certain regards.

I agree. I woke to Oreilly, hearing him take about how this has saved Donahue's carreer because he was willing to focus on the sniper while O'Reilly was trying to do other stuff as well. and that Donohue was focusing on the most sensational aspects and in O'R's words irresponsible coverage.

It's the same thing with all aspects of our culture. There is a section of society, media and entertainment, which thrives by feeding our dark side. I don't see a way around it.
