Mr. Moose just held another news conference. Said the Police Department couldn't communicate electronically with the sniper in the manner he requested. What a mess.

The police said call back to get an 800 number or a PO Box.

One reason for the sudden demand for money might be that the sniper has decided to call it quits.

I'd go along with that, except that I think it's on a more subtle level. He is fantasizing about quitting and getting the cash to live happily ever after, but he's not going to pull that off, and it will only make him angrier.

The hope is that he'll give enough clues in this ill-fated ransom attempt that he'll be caught now.

When he determines that he can't get the money, and get out of the killing cycle, he's going to be a very angry person, and he'll express that through another multiple killing day to punish us all.

With FBI, ATF, and the Secret Service, all involved in this investigation, I doubt that Moose is calling the shots...

Everyone (in power) in DC wants their own face on TV,

Unwise move on the part of the police. Somebody else will probably get shot because of it. It's like a hostage situation, where a hostage gets executed every time a demand is refused - only the hostages consist of the citizens of three states.

The only flaw I see in your theory (and I too have gravitated back and forth like you) is this line:

Unforunately a "swiss bank account" is now pure fiction. The Swiss aren't letting people in that easy any more, especially for terrorists. Course if you're a "legit" politician it might be different, but for your average Joe it wouldn't be.
Plus we would be all over the Swiss, or whereever he goes, to tell us who it is.
I can't see how the sniper would get a monetary ransom. I'm thinking he wants something done.

Couldn't it be by design though? I mean, maybe they don't want to give this guy (the sniper) anything to furthur inflate his sense of power and self-importance which would surely happen if there were spokespeople from a number of agencies or from the Bush administration itself, as some have suggested.

With all of the alphabet soup agencies associated with the investigation, I don't think Moose is calling ANY shots. I think his media appearances are not to feed the media dogs, but are minutely scripted for the sole purpose of communication with the sniper(s). I'll bet there are a bevy of government psychiatrists, mediation experts, etc. telling Moose EXACTLY what to say and NOT to deviate from the script.

Your theory on the wire transfer is about as interesting as any other . But what makes C.O.P. Moose believe the sniper would be gullible enough to fall for his "call me back at this(tapped) phone number? or, How 'bout if we set you up with a P.O. box?? A 5 year old kid wouldn't fall for that.

Take it to the bank-they are. The killer has formed a relationship with Moose. No matter how you feel about Moose-he's got a huge weight on his shoulders now.

If he demanded they get a shortwave transceiver and listen for contact, absolutely. That's SOP for kidnap scenarios in the Third World, if I understand correctly. But to come back with "Duh, we're stupid, we don't know the way to Radio Shack, can you come into the office and talk to us instead" would be a plain insult, and would probably result in somebody's kid getting killed.

As far as paying a ransom, that's routinely done. Just because we have an advanced law enforcement infrastructure in this country, which makes successful kidnappings rare, doesn't mean it's fiction.

One thing's certain, this professional assassin is dancing circles around Law Enforcement, and the futile search for white vans is becoming embarassing. If there's a way to secretly wire a ransom, and try to catch the perp when they go to collect (wherever in the hell that may be), that would probably be at least as effective at this point.

These are interesting reads no doubt. There are plenty of other threads on this forum that point to ME terrorism. Have you had the chance to read them? The videos found in Afghan are also incredible evidence. Then you have to also add in that they are heavily questioning AQ not the KKK.
