My gut says the ransom is a diversion.

"Sources said the sniper's money demand has them all but convinced that he is not a foreign terrorist."
Have to remember that next time I want to cover my tracks!
ROTFLOL!!!!

Are Islamonuts that clever? Has Israel ever seen a money ransom demand from a Pallie?
To: kattracks
Has me all but convinced it's a DNC.COM operation!

Ransom? Money? . The note requesting payoff was apparently not found the night of the shooting, therefore could have been placed later by some unrelated thug who sees shootings as a way to make a bundle.
Meanwhile, isn't it amazing how the writer managed to get Bush, Cheney, NRA and Marine Corps stickers into the article, tho totally irrelevant to the story.

Well I guess his powers as god only goes so far. He has the power to kill but not create wealth. He'll kill again whether he gets money or not.

Could be an outright lie by the cops in an effort to get the shooter to call them again. "Why are you saying that I want money? I don't want money! Why don't you tell everyone XXXX XXX XXXXXX XXXXX??!!??" (ie, the motivation the shooter is using to justify his psychotic urges to himself)

If "sharpshootings" these weren't particularly virtuosic. Sharpshooters can nail a person at better than half a mile. Any good hunter could duplicate this.
This sniper seems to melt away and escape detection after every shooting. I believe the white van thing is either a local truck used as an intentional diversion to draw away attention from other common vehicles such as taxi cabs, police cars, fire vehicles or any other usual vehicles or a clean van driven by an accomplice.
A police car would be waved past roadblocks and not arouse any suspicion coming or going. Perhaps a state vehicle or a postal vehicle, UPS, tow truck. Something that stands out so much that it's discounted.
Abstract, I know, but... it's still going on.

Or, the sniper waits until a white van is passing nearby, then pulls the trigger and vamooses.
To: kattracks
and their van, which carried Bush-Cheney, Marine Corps and National Rifle Association bumper stickers, was towed away. The media is probably crying in their beer that they were not involved with the sniper. This was their wet dream.

I wondered the same thing. Hiding in plain sight.

My gut says the ransom is a diversion. I tend to agree .. this POS is not stupid and he knows he would never be able to pick up the money without being cought
IMO he is playing a game with the media, the police, and the community

Yesterday, at about 8 a.m., two men in a white van with a roof rack and temporary license plates pulled into an Exxon gas station and parked at one of the phones. One of the men remained in the van for 45 minutes; the other crossed the street to use a pay phone at another gas station.
The two men - one Mexican, the other Guatemalan - were detained by cops, and their van, which carried Bush-Cheney, Marine Corps and National Rifle Association bumper stickers, was towed away.
I agree. The writer should have, at least, included the two areas in bold in the same paragraph. The bumper stickers are irrelevant on a recently purchased used vehicle.

Millions for defense, not one cent for tribute.
We will only encourage more killers if we pay out.
But it's all well and good to try to get the guy on the phone. He wants to play the phone game because it makes him feel good, and we want to play along, because we just might catch him.

The stickers were probably diversions in hopes anyone anti-immigration wouldn't pull them over...

Could even be a cop or someone with access to cruisers. Mechanics, body shop, civilians attatched to cop shop.
