High-Tech Worker Shortage is a Sham

Foreign workers are permitted to take jobs in the United States on either a permanent or temporary basis. An immigrant visa is required for permanent residence. A nonimmigrant visa does not allow permanent residence. The "H" visa are the most common temporary worker category. Separate rules apply to agricultural workers, nurses, trainees, professionals (H-1B) and unskilled workers.

The H-1B program, while intended to allow companies to hire the “best and the brightest” from around the world for periods of up to six years, in practice is just an alternate path for aliens to employment permanent residence. Americans are fat, lazy and overpaid.
It is Government Policy to make Americans "more competitive" by making them work longer hours for Third World wages & benefits.

It is a sham, and has been for years. My brother applied to a company in the Silicon Valley about 10 years ago, they paid for a flight for him to fly half way across the country for an interview. Over a month after the interview he got a letter from them asking him to turn down the job. They even stated that they needed Americans to turn down the job so they could hire a foreigner. They didn't get their turn down.
