Vanity (But True!!!): I was on Southwest Flight 160 with Al Gore!!!! ROTFLOL ALERT!!!!

NOT MAKING THIS UP!!!

Hubby and I were just about to board Southwest Flight 160 from Hartford CT to Nashville last Saturday. Next thing we knew The Goron was in the gate area having his bags checked, being wanded, and then (of course) being hustled to the front of the line so he could be seated on the plane ahead of the people in wheelchairs.

Our reactions: astonishment, loud laughter, and then marvel at how nervous and self-conscious he seemed. Hubby and I settled into quiet joking and insults between the two of us--although hubby said The Goron gave him a long stare while he was being wanded--hubby glared right back at him until he looked away (LOL).

We had to walk by The Goron to get seated in the back. The Goron and his lackey toook up all 6 seats at the very front right side of the plane. (Didn't know Southwest had First Class Seating--LOL). As everyone passed by, no one spoke to The Goron either positively or negatively--we all basically ignored him, which was a little strange, now that I think about it. The Goron held up a newspaper in front of his face & pretended to read it the whole time--but he was turning the pages every five seconds and he kept one eyeball uncovered so he could look over each passenger as they walked by. It was a really wierd thing to watch.

I have to say, I actually had no desire to even make a joking snide comment as I passed by The Goron. The overall impression he made on me was that he's just another loser with a capital L , desperately wanting to be someone important, at the same time projecting no self-confidence. I actually felt sorry for him at the time.

During the two-hour flight the Goron got up a couple of times to use the lavatory (must have been drinking ice tea--LOL!!!). When the plane landed, he grabbed his lock-box and was the first guy off the plane (of course).

Hubby and I are still laughing about this. Talk about wierd karma............

I sure hope mason123 doesn't post a "I'm leaving FR because...." article. Those types are really funny, too-- as is yours.

I know you're giving serious consideration to my communication, mason123. And there's only one more thing I want to add to what I've already suggested. When characterizing someone's behavior as boorish in front of others, you risk shaming them. I'm sure you didn't realize this and I would never suggest that you would deliberately be callous. But this is terribly damaging to that person's self-esteem. Wouldn't it have been so much more considerate and effective to communicate your concerns about her behavior privately, rather than taking her to task in front of people? I'm sure you agree, and I'm also sure that when you apologize to her for using that hurtful word, "boorish," you will also ask her forgiveness for doing that so publicly. Just think how good you will feel when your fine gesture opens up communication, validates your mutual humanity and restores RooRoobird's trust that she will not be exposed to scorn when she expresses herself.

Do it, mason123. We will all be so proud of you when you set this good example.

Sounds exactly like my late night airport celebrity encounter with Tiny Tim. Come to think of it, it might have been al.

I set next to Barbara Jordan on a Southwest flight from Austin to Houston some years back. We chatted the whole way. She was just the nicest lady. It would be interesting to see her take on the Dem. party as it is today.

The man is a traitor to the United States. He should have been tried, convicted and executed in accordance with the law. If he only gets laughed at and "stared down" instead, he should consider himself damned lucky.

Don't forget “The Kiss”. My spouse is a dem and when she saw Al and Tipper kissing she said... what a shmuck!

Gore looked like Frankenstein moving on the little girl by the pond.

When the guy gets into bed, he probably knocks over the lamp and night-stand.

He's Herman Munster with a $600.00 suit!

Actually, Bonaparte, if my feelings were hurt, that lasted about one millionth of a nanosecond. I'm having too much fun on this thread!!!! (Freeers are so much fun!)

Posters like Mason123 (a conservative---NOT!) are at best irritating for a moment--they're not worth any expended energy, especially, if that takes away from a ROTFLOLing time at the expense of a LOSER like Al Gore. Take care..

Since it appears that the Agents of D.U.h. like to make fun of black people, have they targeted impeached president Clinton yet since he's now been awarded honorary black person status? BTW, Hillary couldn't be there because she was being awarded as an honorary gay person (no joke!).

Your post screams for a picture of Algor Junior in his "Frankenstein's Monster" costume but I couldn't find that one. So in the spirit of the Halloween season, let me give you these shots of him as the Underdog:

A while before the election, i put up a "www.freerepublic" sign across the back of my van window, sort of as an advertisement for the site. Now, because of threads like this, i've decided to remove it.

And just to set the record straight, i'm a conservative, republican who has always been revolted by clinton/gore.

ROTFL! Great post.

"I remember when Gore walked over and stood right next to Bush during the debates. Dubya turned and looked at him and said, 'Hi'."

That was priceless; definitely one of my favorite moments of the campaign.
