...Homeschoolers are kicking you a$$, and their moms are better teachers.LOL) You got that right! Homeschoolers are leaps and bounds ahead of public school students in every major subject.

We are saying the same thing then. See post 529

So why are homeschool moms making public schools look like playgrounds for the braindead?Because I only teach 120 kids a year.
To: Charles H. (The_r0nin)
Sorry, I misunderstood. There are certainly advantages for their being taught the subject by a teacher. But there are also advantages if they have to learn it on their own. Who's to say which is better? Life means making the best of the hand we're dealt.

Add Goochland to that list.
FWIW, the stated reason for closing schools is (paraphrasing) whiny parents.

I don't
know that this is what it is all about, but:
(1) There are services that you can set up where you talk to someone on a scheduled number, its called conference calling. Businesses use this all the time. Set up a schedule, pay in advance, people call in to the same number, you talk. The service cannot effectively track where you are calling from - heck, you can be using voice over IP - dial up to an ISP, then call the conference call and talk into your laptop.
(2) These same services also provide a "forwarding" feature where you call a number, and it "reroutes" the call through their number to the destination - preventing a trace!. See this service (a few paragraphs down the page): Connected Call Transfers. Visualize calling from a pay phone on a disposable phone card, to the connected call transfer service, to the conference call. Yeah, the LEOs are going to track that really quick.
Phone phreaks (yeah, that's how they spelled it) can actually route a call around the world a half dozen times through multiple exchanges - for free. These guys could do that. So - tracing the call is likely to be unproductive if these guys have the right skills and knowledge. But - I think the message that the Moose gave fits perfectly for a conference call.

My sixth grader is reading Tolkien's translation of Sir Gawain. My 6th grader read Tolkien's Trilogy, plus the original. She liked it so much, my 5th grade boy is reading it, although some of the names have to be sounded out. He does quite well.

Don't let the naysayers get you down--a long time ago I was home-schooled and see its benefits and pitfalls--we need specialists and dedicated teachers such as yourself. Many of us on here wish you only success in your vocation, which is a vital one

He told them last night that we are out of time.Just reading the little we know from what's out there, that certainly makes a lot of sense, doesn't it?
To: Charles H. (The_r0nin)
But, their mom probably doesn't read Beowulf in the original Old English, either... So? How will that prepare them for normal society and job searches? That's a waste of time. Push that junk aside, and move onto the important things. Geeez. Get a grip!

The odds of hitting an FBI intelligence analyst involved in the sniper investigation have got to be impossibly small. I refuse to believe that is a coincidence.FWIW, when I had the "nerve" to say that Monday night, I got a few nasty replies...

I thought Australia pretty much banned weapons. Thanks for the heads up on the news! Prayers for the unarmed victims offered.

I have to wiegh in on Moose,W and many other public subject about there speach including me although I am not a public subject. We may know the correct way to say something but we prefer to say it in local jargon.I can read just about anything and understand it but that doesn't mean thats the way I would say it.I loved to read Isaac Asminov because he was so easy to understand,he didn't let big obtruse words get in his way,he just said it like it was,in laymens terms.

Now I can see why you're so defensive.

That fact my friend makes it more suspicious. I thought this info was important for this thread.

This is getting real scary.....
CNN just reminded all that Moose wanted his repy played
over & over.......
Maybe some threat was made against the schools, and since
Moose has not yet heard back, they have now decided to close the schools ???
