HONOLULU - When the voters of Hawaii awake the morning after the Nov. 5 election, they are likely to find they have done two extraordinary things: elect a live Republican to the governor's office and a dead Democrat to Congress.

Just curious. What is meant here by "right wing?" Does McDermott wear an America flag lapel pin and favor tax cuts?

I was just about to say it. Why is he labeled right-wing? He must have a stated, on-the-record opinion of the rights of the unborn. That surely qualifies.

In heavily Democratic Hawaii the Republicans are about as effectively organized as are the Massachusetts Republicans.
