My best to you, Lurker-- I saw a few of your comments on the JBR posts ( regarding the Polly Klaus murder )-- my wife had one of her best friends murdered at an all-night liquor store down the street from here, and to this day she avoids going that way. People sometimes forget that in the real world, actions have irredeemable consequences, and events like those touch people in ways that can't be pigeonholed, or predicted.

I saw a report- somewhere, a long time ago- that claimed for each single person who was murdered, a minimum of 20 more were permanently impacted by it.

There's the old Jewish saying that he who saves one life saves the world entire.

That must mean that the converse of that is true as well.

All I know is that anyone who could commit a cold blooded murder is someone who needs to be removed from society in the most permanent way possible. That's especially true of those who murder children.

It's not possible for me to express my absolute hatred and contempt for such people. I know my wife was pretty permanently affected by the events of that night. We have alarms, dogs, firearms, pepper spray, surveillance cameras, and a very large cat with a bad attitude and my wife still doesn't much like being at home alone nights.

Can't say I blame her. Some 17 year old creep slashed a cab drivers throat right in front of my house a couple of years back. Oh they caught the little criminal genius right away. It seems the cabbie picked him up at his parents house.

But it affected the entire neighborhood. We hold Neighborhood Watch meetings two or three times a year and that event still comes up.

What a world....

You have a fine day sir.
