A Touch of Home

This is how I think of the USO Canteen 
Freeper Style. It is like a cottage down a road,
a place where a weary veteran can spend the night. 

Since it opened, it is magical how so many
Freepers who post here, feel it too. 
It has been so dear how the Freepers
kept making it a cottage - a home-type of 
place that had a huge living room
for them to visit in and a dance floor, 
a library, etc. 

Many Veterans have written to me, 
saying that the Canteen is like home
to them for the first time since they 
served. 

This is your Canteen -
a respite from our busy 
and sometimes troubling world. 
Make yourself at home.

If you know a Veteran, someone in your family, 
friend of the family, neighbor, who served their  
country, take a brief moment of your day to thank 
them. 

Thank them for the sacrifice they made
for the better good of their country.

We at Free Republic, and the USO Canteen FReeper 
Style, are thankful for every service member 
in our military, who has served our great nation.

So, to the men and women who answered the call,
in both times of war and peace, thank you.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:

Okay, I'm back from shopping, I've got my instructions from Kathy (yeah, yeah, yeah - LOL), I picked up some extra Dramamine, and I am ready to navigate this puppy. It's a beautiful day - let's hit it!

Busy week! Crazy week! I am running kids everywhere for school and church activities (gotta' few extra kids along for the ride). Won't go into too much detail as many on here know that feeling.

Quickdraw McGraw is in Kingman, AZ working on the Emmaus Walk (spiritual retreat). Lots of cool things going on this week but not home very much.

I have tried to lurk a bit, but sleep deprivation is the other half of it. Exciting day yesterday celebrating with Navy JR ROTC cadets for the 227th (belated) birthday.

I will be catching up on history tonight...I look forward to reading about the USS Kearny! BUPPY
I love our transportation and flowers today! No dramamine for the transportation (or flowers) for me, but I'll volunteer to be nurse for those who don't take to water well. BUPPY

Never got to ride in a C-47 but had quite a few trips in ahte C-123 "Provider"

and the C-7 "Caribou"

Cool, then I'll get to see you after class tonight. Duchess, radu, and Jen are our Dramamine users. Radu is hoping for calm seas, but Duchess is into speed. Should be some kind of ride.

Okay, there can be a compromise here.....relaxing sounds great for the first half of the trip and then a little speeding up after that...for fun...and then slow it down for the remainder of the excursion! How's that?

Doggone! It sounds like I'm gonna miss a party to the C.G. cutter. Y'all are wound up! LOL! I hope no one falls overboard. But then, you should have plenty of handsome men to save you if you do!
