Davis Runs - But He Can't Hide!

By Leo Lacayo
Thursday, October 17, 2002

The Davis camp has announced with fanfare that Gray-Out Davis will hit the campaign trail. He has been busy hitting up special interests for more dirty money to throw at Bill Simon. He has thrown everything from the kitchen sink to his former trailer-home. Now the ''worst governor in the history of the United States'' has decided to come out and mingle with the little people.

No doubt all the well-orchestrated mud slinging has left a bad taste in the mouths and minds of the voters. Davis has done more than tire us with his incredibly arrogant and misleading campaign ads. Not content with trying to smear the Simon family, he has spared no time dealing with the issues in California, and the bill for that is coming in the fifteen billion dollars he has to cut from the state budget on election day.

If I were a Davis supporter, I would be worried sick that this guy is going to have to fire me even if I vote for him, simply because there is no money left to pay me. Bill Simon is going to make employment his priority. Whatever Davis has been up to, it hasn't been employing anyone except his over lackeys.

Bill Simon knows what it is going to take make California work again. All Davis knows how to do is to work California. Davis is getting ready to knife his friends in the back. I would hate to see the faces of the people who vote for him in the days following the elections! Let's not forget that Davis is the same pathological liar that carved up the Hispanics and offered them to the election-year gods. He betrayed the Latino vote on driver's licenses doing more damage to these people than anyone could imagine. There are mothers out there that can no longer get their kids to school or to the doctor, and parents who can't get to work--even though they are in the process of legalizing their residency. It's because Davis didn't get any big bucks from them.

While Bill Simon has been in the forefront of charitable and worthwhile endeavors on behalf of the state's less fortunate, he has worked tirelessly with Catholic charities and a long list of organizations. Where has Gray Davis been?

He's been hobnobbing with the potentates, collecting his ill-gotten gains--his 30 pieces of silver--while the people languish in the fields. Gray Davis is what is wrong with California, and everyone can see that. Their is a clear choice between the hardened politician stoking his ego for a ride to the White House, and the citizen-family man, who works, is successful, and does not forget those less fortunate.

How many people with Bill Simon's background, would spend so much time in helping others, or take the courageous step of running for public office in a state with a tremendous bias of the press against you, and a political machine run by unscrupulous, greedy people who relish destroying reputations and sullying good names and values.

Well, Gray Davis is in a corner, his mouth is foaming, and he wants to bite some more people. Davis is trotting out the old abortion and gun issues, and scaring the elderly as he tried to scare the immigrant population. People are not buying it, simply because they know that Bill Simon is here to better California, to let us dream, and to help us make our dreams come true. Gray Davis, the people don't have problems with pro-choice or pro-life, guns or no guns, we have serious problems with the way this state is being run. Bill Simon will respect and uphold the laws on the books, something Davis can't claim to ever have accomplished during his frightful tenure. Bill Simon knows that there are more important things to worry about. Sure Bill has his opinions on choice and guns--we all do--and he isn't here to imprint his opinion on our laws. He is here to find common cause and work on those specific issues that require immediate attention.

I invite Californians to seek out Gray Davis, during his mini-campaign storm. Do as hundreds of gay activists did who pounded the streets outside his recent fundraiser in the Castro. The gay community is another victim of his lies and cheating, and they are wise to his ways. They should remember how they have been used by Davis, who even created a commission to study a principal issue with them, and then never invoked the commission. More smoke and mirrors and another ''sure'' ally betrayed by Davis.

Davis has betrayed the entire State of California, because his political future, his fund raising, and his ego are more important than his constituents.

The Simon campaign is within three points of kicking Davis. The people of California, Democrats, Republicans, Greens, Independents, Libertarians, African American, Latino, Asian and White, Believer or Atheist, Straight or Gay, should all agree on one thing: Gray Davis must be fired, and Bill Simon is the man to elect as governor.

I invite everyone to track down Gray Davis for what remains of this campaign, and get the message out to the public. Everywhere you look--red ink, education, roads, environment, unemployment--Davis has failed the people of this fine state, while benefiting himself. It is obvious to us, now let's make it obvious to the rest of our neighbors. Let's make this a landslide election that will have the media hiding their liberal claws. Of course, some of the media are already doing a professional job, but most are asleep at the switch. Let's wake them up!

Got a phone call from President Bush the other day and got one from Bill simon this evening!
One of those automated phone bank calls.
Missed much of what he was saying, but would like to hear it again.

Anyone know whether they might have that on the Simon website?

He was definitely asking if I wanted another 4 years of Davis.

Thanks for pinging everyone and the bump list! The closest I ever get to receiving political calls are for LA Times advertisements. I didn't see any phone bank calls listed on Mr. Simon's website or any other campaign websites that I've seen.

asking if I wanted another 4 years of Davis.
Does anyone? .... NO! ........................................ Fire Davis!

I got a large mailer from the California Republican Party today. It's an 8 1/2" by 11" glossy brochure featuring Davis on the cover with the caption "Gray Davis has taken a $10 billion surplus and turned it into a $24 billion deficit. Will you stand for the biggest tax hike in history?"

About the Bush call, I ran across this (while searching for George Will's article):
I just got a recorded message from President George W. Bush

"....It's President Bush calling (recorded message) encouraging me to fill out my absentee ballot and support the republican candidates. ..."

Looks like a lot of other people got the call, too!
