[history]
Let us now happily observe the Navy's shiny and world-renowned Blue Angels precision flying team roaring over S.F. Bay, shaking the office windows and triggering a million car alarms and inducing coronaries in the elderly and panicking the easily panickable into thinking Armageddon is at hand at last, take me Jesus I am ready, oh wait, damn, it's just Fleet Week.

Unfortunately, another reason to despise the Bay Area. How in the hell can Michael Savage (sp?) stand it there?

And to think that the Chron marketing people are genuinely puzzled when I tell them to 'kiss my ass' when they call me soliciting subscriptions.
We used to have a Russian emigre who worked at my office. He said that he didn't read the Chron or the Examiner because...
"It is too much like, uh.."
"Isvestia?"
(smiles) "Yes, that's it!"

"I don't know who originally wrote that stompy "cower in fear" thing ..."I wrote the "200 years from now" rant on 13 September 2002 ... and I can tell you that NOBODY chews me out for loafing on the job. No way do I believe that I'm Conan the Barbarian. I spent my two years in the Navy and 20 years in the Army (the first five as an infantryman) and retired to double-dip in the civil service. I am eligible for recall to active duty and am conveniently located for the government here near Fort Hood, Texas. If you don't like the tenor of my remarks ... tough.
But I will admit that the pictorial additions made by HiJinks add a spice that was missing from my original ... way to go, HiJinks. Do you mind if I add them to the original posted in my profile?

"We sleep safe in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm."
Definitely true. But those of us who are being protected still have just as much right to their opinions as those of us who are doing the protecting.

Unfortunately, I missed Hill - my boy (age 2) got scared by the jet demos, most notably the F-15, and we left early. Bummer.

The Starfighters flew here at Offutt AFB a few years back. I nearly wet my pants. The F-104's engine makes the oddest "WOOMP" noise - very distinctive. Add this to your bookmark page:

Rocky Hill is a very exciting airshow pilot. I saw him at Reno one year. Awesome! He did things in that plane that rivalled the Turbo Raven.
Patty Wagstaff or Julie Clark are cute, though. So they rate higher. :-)

Thanks for the photo. Just as I suspected. Even a glimpse of his limp wrist.

Definitely got some return on the Gaydar.
Damn pillow-biter! Perhaps he should think about how "men" such as himself are treated in countries without a strong, professional, and volunteer military.

What really clenched Markie's butt was that over a million people showed up, the vast majority of which appreciated, and were no doubt reassured by, this awesome spectacle of power and precision. He couldn't deal with it.

I've seen the Blue Angels a few times over in Beaufort SC, and it's still an awesome sight every time. Last year we saw a Stealth fighter .... very cool. Standing there, covering your ears as they scream by ...... makes your heart swell with pride to be an American.
