Cheney visits state, calls on Americans to ready for war

2002-10-15

The Oklahoman

During a visit to Midwest City Tuesday, Vice President Dick Cheney called on GOP supporters to vote and Americans to ready for war. Cheney said the killing of a U.S. Marine in Kuwait and attacks in Yemen and Bali show that Al-Qaida will stop at nothing to attack Americans at home and abroad.

"We're closer to the front end of this conflict than we are the back of it," Cheney said to the crowd of civilians and servicemen and women on a runway at Tinker Air Force Base. "It's very important we maintain the kind of effort we have today."

Cheney thanked those in the military for their work in the war against terrorism.

The vice president was in town to raise money and rally voters for Republican candidate Tom Cole, who is seeking the 4th Congressional seat.

"I have some predictions," Cheney said. "Steve Largent will be the next governor of Oklahoma. Sen. Jim Inhofe will maintain his seat, and I also predict Tom Cole is going to be the next congressman from Oklahoma's 4th District."

Vice President Cheney's speech was awesome and well received by everyone in attendance at Rose State College Performing Arts Center for the Tom Cole for Congress fundraiser. Oklahomans here in the 4th District are very fortunate to have Tom Cole as our candidate and someone who will hit the ground running when he wins the 4th District Seat!

Vice President Cheney is definitely loved by Oklahomans! Especially when he referenced the football game on Saturday and said the President wasn't too happy about the outcome of OU/Texas but he would get over it. The crowd loved that part since probably 99% of us there were Sooner fans!

Had the privilege of meeting so many really nice people when they arrived -- was most impressed with the Governor of the Chickasaw Nation and with his help we are going to make a dent in Roberts counties which were added to the 4th District.

Tom Cole is going to win on election day and is going to replace J.C. Watts as the Congressman from the 4th. We have three weeks to go, but we are going to keep this seat Republican!

Vice President Cheney took the gloves off today when discussing the lack of leadership by the DemocRATs in the Senate. He brought up Leahy lying to Strom Thurmond and discussed the lack of judicial nominations being approved, lack of budget resolution, lack of spending authorizations, lack of an energy bill and you all get the picture.

He let it be known that this Administration thought that the DemocRAT leadership in the Senate was bad.

Best speech I have heard VP Cheney deliver!

Cheney was being charitable.
He needed to just be blunt and say "them's DO NOTHING DEMOCRATS...they don't
want homeland security, they don't want to waste calories voting for
judge nominees, and they don't see anything wrong with elder abuse (treatment of Strom)".

I wonder if Cheney visited the plant in Oklahoma thats cranking out those JDAM bombs
for special delivery to one S. Hussein, Baghdad, Iraq.

Winning THE BIG GAME will make sure Dubya doesn't fret over the UT loss very long...

My cousin in Dallas (he grew up in Canada, so he's a moderately neutral observer
of the Red River Shootout) said that the UT team and coach have been the
recipient of merciless strafing by the UT fans and media.
I hope the UT administation preserves the current situation!

I want Mack Brown to be the UT coach forever. My one regret is that Phil Simms will not face us again!

Actually he was very blunt! I didn't want to quote without his exact quotes. Something to the effect that this was the absolute worst Leadership in the Senate ever. And he really went after Leahy for lying! He was hard hitting about the "do nothing" Senate leadership.

He went after Leahy? Good for him. I hate that lying snake! The Senate is totally dysfunctional under daschle/clinton/leahy/schumer...we need a massive change.

Of course we didn't hear ONE word of VP Cheney's speech on the news. Too bad. We love him. But, the liberal PRESS/MEDIA is too afraid to show Americans what good hands they are in. Their guys/gals the Dems would definetly lose seats in both the Congress and Senate if the press/media showed MORE of their speeches.

They are afraid.. very very afraid. :o)

Sadly, it is the American people as a whole who lose when these people aren't publicized the way they should be. We happen to believe that everyone in this administration SHOULD be heard from, it would afford a much needed sense of security after all we've been through as a nation.

I believe we saw a lot more Gore than we do Cheney. It would be interesting to see what the "accuracy in media" reporting agency would say regarding this. But we won't hear about that until after the elections either. They just won't give the air time to Repubs.

Sad....

Anyway.. you guys in Oklahoma have had great representation.. We support wholeheartedly the candidates there. Wish we could cast our votes over your way.. no question about it, we would vote for every Repub Candidate on the ticket.

FRegards!!

SHEEESH, I hate it when that happens; missed a killer speech by the VP, eh??? And the media midgets didn't feel compelled to air it? Surprise! Well, if "W" doesn't rate, the VP ain't got a prayer. I don't suppose it was or will be on CSPAN either???

Pulling for your guy from Texas, where it looks like we might have a sweep. Hauling out the trash in Texas(barring mass resurrections) ; )
