LEGENDARY rockers Led Zeppelin are set to re-group after 22 years for a money-spinning stadium tour of America.

The three surviving members — singer Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones — plan to hit the road next summer.

The trio hope to pocket £6.4million for the shows.

Robert, 54, Jimmy, 58, and 56-year-old John Paul met two weeks ago at the offices of their management firm Trinifold.

They buried the hatchet over Page and Plant’s 1990s tour, which John Paul only learned about from a newspaper.

A band insider said last night: “If the right offer comes up they will do it.”

Trinifold added: “Jimmy is itching to do something, but there is nothing firm yet.”

Zeppelin split in 1980 after a booze binge killed drummer John Bonham.

His son Jason is set to play drums on the tour.

The band, famed for songs like Stairway to Heaven and Whole Lotta Love, are second only to the Beatles in worldwide album sales.

They still hold records for crowds at their 1970s concerts.

A music industry insider said: “They had so many hits that I am sure the reunion would be a major success.”

Rock ticket prices have gone way up. I wanted to see Peter Gabriel this fall, but when I saw the prices, I decided to download some of his mp3s for spite instead.

I'm glad these fellows are still able to get around and hit the road.

But even if I did get out to see them, I'd still be thinking of what was probably
one of their earliest video works (Led Zep enthusiasts pleace correct me if I'm wrong).

About 20 years ago (can it be possible?) my brother and I went to rock-and-roll double feature
at the campy Will Rogers Theater in Oklahoma City.

The main feature was a full-length "rockumentary" of Lyndard Skynard (I think sponsored
by Pepsi). It was a very nice coverage of the band and their music.

But what TOTALLY BLEW ME AWAY was a "video"...this was before MTV...of Led Zeppelin
doing "Dazed And Confused". IIRC, this video was shot at a nightclub in London.
Maybe it was my youth...but it was a great video/audio portrayal of the song...
and no drugs needed to get the full effect!!!

Even at this remove...I'd say it was just about the most concentrated, intense
musical rendition I've seen captured on film...but of course that's a subjective opinion.

Bullshit....for so many reasons. IF they do a tour involving John Paul Jones, it will most likely be called Page, Plant & Jones....just as 1995's Page/Plant tour was called Page & Plant. They have often stated, correctly, that there is NO Led Zeppelin without John Bonham. Another big red flag is that Page and Plant have often stated, correctly, that Jason Bonham SUCKS as a drummer. They agreed to play a short set with him at LiveAid to help raise money for charity. No other reason. IF there is to be a "reunion" they will most likely use the kid they used on the Page/Plant tour, who plays eerily like Bonzo did....which no other drummer alive can replicate any better. Not the chops, the feel.

More than a few Zep song's lyrics were inspired by the Lord of the Rings. Stairway to Heaven was lifted in part from Aragon's song... "All that glitters is not gold...all who wander are not lost...". Following on the album is "The Battle of Evermore", which is also directly inspired from Tolkien, "...the drums will shake the castle walls, the ring-wraiths ride in black...to which Plant added "Ride on!". (Makes me wonder who's side he's on.) My own father, square as he is,introduced me to Tolkien long before "Frodo Lives" ever appeared on the side of a New York subway tunnel. There's just thing I've got to do...RAMBLE ON!!! No plans in heading towards Mordor, however...

It sure is depressing to hear that a band that I grew up with (and worshipped) is so damn old! Where have the years gone?

Don't be depressed,Dick Dale is in his 60's and I've seen him twice in the past few years.He still puts most all younger players to shame,he still plays some of the fastest,hardest,and loudest guitar out there.Jimmy Page can still play,make no mistake.That's one of the great things about music,it's not like sports where you're done at 30.
