Led Zeppelin to tour again

LEGENDARY rockers Led Zeppelin are set to re-group after 22 years for a money-spinning stadium tour of America.

The three surviving members — singer Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones — plan to hit the road next summer.

The trio hope to pocket £6.4million for the shows.

Robert, 54, Jimmy, 58, and 56-year-old John Paul met two weeks ago at the offices of their management firm Trinifold.

They buried the hatchet over Page and Plant’s 1990s tour, which John Paul only learned about from a newspaper.

A band insider said last night: “If the right offer comes up they will do it.”

Trinifold added: “Jimmy is itching to do something, but there is nothing firm yet.”

Zeppelin split in 1980 after a booze binge killed drummer John Bonham.

His son Jason is set to play drums on the tour.

The band, famed for songs like Stairway to Heaven and Whole Lotta Love, are second only to the Beatles in worldwide album sales.

They still hold records for crowds at their 1970s concerts.

A music industry insider said: “They had so many hits that I am sure the reunion would be a major success.”

check out The Song Remains The Same on DVD

I've probably seen The Song Remains The Same a thousand times over the years. :) Caught part of it on a cable channel earlier this year.

Just before "Stairway to Heaven", NYC footage is shown. Robert Plant says, "This is a song of hope" and you see the World Trade Center just as the song begins. The timing of it all gave me goosebumps.

I saw Plant on VH1 unplugged a couple of months ago with his new band..he still has the pipes...some of the trade mark screams are gone but the vocal quality is still very much there....he's like Daltrey in the respect that he has aged well, exercised and taken care of himself.

The rumors you heard about Zeppelin are not true. Yes John Paul Jones did indeed make up with Jimmy and Robert however the rumors came out on October 2002, the British press reported that Robert Plant and John Paul Jones had reconciled after a 20-year feud which had kept Led Zeppelin apart, and rumours surfaced of a reunion tour in 2003. This was later denied by Plant and Page’s management company.

In 2007, rumours yet again surfaced of a possible reunion in which Q107, Toronto’s classic rock radio station, reported that Led Zeppelin would jump on the “reunion bandwagon” following months of countless reunions from classic bands in 2007. John Paul Jones himself reportedly stated that the band is considering a reunion of some sorts on the radio broadcast but representatives from the radio station deny even speaking to Jones and claim the report to be false.

If “Led Zeppelin” should ever decide to have a reunion tour the tickets would be the most exspensive tickets ever to be sold for a live performance and we’re not talking $100 dollars more like $1000 dollars for the nose bleads and as much as $10,000 dollars and up for front row.

My thoughts on a reunion tour would be to have “Led Zeppelin” do what Elvis did in the early 70’s and that is to have “Led Zeppelin” perform “live” via satellite world wide this way everyone in the world would have the experence to see this true rock legend perform one last time. There were only two other bands in rock history to secure-”The Beatles” and “Pink Floyed”. Make no doubt about it that “Led Zeppelin” was and still is to this very day “The Greatest Rock Legend that ever happened in Music History”.

Today Jimmy Page just celibrated his 63rd birthday. He is now getting ready to sign 26 double neck 1275 Gibson SG guitars he use to play. He also in 2004 signed 26 Gibson 1959 Les Pauls that today are worth $100,000.

I was one of the fortunate one’s to see “The Powerful Led Zeppelin” twice in 1973 at Madison Square Garden where they filmed the movie (The Song Remains The Same). Then I saw them again in their 1977 Tour.

In answer to your question “The Who” is not Led Zeppelin. Peter Townsent is a good guitarist but Jimmy Page is a “Guitar God”. I have seen both bands you can’t compare the two further more John Bonham was and still is very dear to them.

1)If Zeppelin considered a tour it would most likly be with Jason Bonham his son and only his son.

2)Afording the prices for the tickets your talking $1000 dollars for the nose bleads and certainly anywhere from $10,000 and up for the front row.

3)Getting them all under one roof again to rehurse

That about sums it up.

What are you guys smokin I am telling you for a fact the tickets would go for $1000 dollars for the nose bleads and $10,000 dollars and up for the front row area.

As far as the Beatles go they were great. My mom took me to see them at “Shea Studium” in NY, they came in by helecoptor and landed in center field guess what? The Beatles played no more than 15 minutes and left. the tickets in thoses days were $15 dollars to see them.

I saw Zeppelin three times at Madison Square Garden in 1973 the tickets then cost me $25.00 dollars third row center. Then in 1977 the tickets cost me $50.00 dollars sixth row center. No seeing Zeppelin today would be like trying to see the Beatles again and that my friend will never happen.

Thanks for the ping. I had third row tickets to their Pittsburgh show (approx. 1976) which unfortunately was cancelled due to the death of Plant’s son. I’ve never seen them play live.

I’d pay it just to be able to say that I saw them...hell, I didn’t “discover” them until about 2 years ago...oh, what I’ve missed!

What a waste of a human being.

You should look in the mirror, grandpa. All that bitterness you're carrying around is making YOU a waste of a human being. Do you have any friends? I would guess not, with that kind of knee-jerk attitude.

Sheesh.

I’m a big fan but Plant’s voice has been gone for a long time. It is actually a little embarrassing watching him try to sing now.

What do you want to bet tickets will be close to $100?

I'd be happy to pay $100. I'm sure they'll go for much more.

After the breakup, I figured the next LZ would come along. But it looks like they were a once-in-a-lifetime band.

When I was a young steveo, people would always ask if I was John Bonham. Had a few call me liar when I refused an autograph. I saw Zep at the Forum, 1972 I think... worst concert I ever attended.
