LEGENDARY rockers Led Zeppelin are set to re-group after 22 years for a money-spinning stadium tour of America.

The three surviving members — singer Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones — plan to hit the road next summer.

The trio hope to pocket £6.4million for the shows.

Robert, 54, Jimmy, 58, and 56-year-old John Paul met two weeks ago at the offices of their management firm Trinifold.

They buried the hatchet over Page and Plant’s 1990s tour, which John Paul only learned about from a newspaper.

A band insider said last night: “If the right offer comes up they will do it.”

Trinifold added: “Jimmy is itching to do something, but there is nothing firm yet.”

Zeppelin split in 1980 after a booze binge killed drummer John Bonham.

His son Jason is set to play drums on the tour.

The band, famed for songs like Stairway to Heaven and Whole Lotta Love, are second only to the Beatles in worldwide album sales.

They still hold records for crowds at their 1970s concerts.

A music industry insider said: “They had so many hits that I am sure the reunion would be a major success.”

We were right near each other --- I was 17th row center. (Then again, that was a 7 night gig at the Forum, so we most likely went on separate nights). Loudest concert I've ever attended, and I've seen probably a thousand. The first note of first song - The Song Remains the Same - still remains seared in my brain.

We had tickets for I think four shows, plus one in San Diego. The dates were changed due to some delay, remember? We got screwed up on which date was which, and missed a show! Still saw some awesome gigs, though I understand the earlier days were much better. The only other time I saw them was San Diego in '75. Had tickets for Oakland in I think '76, but that was when Plant broke his ankle.

I went only one night of the seven.....Saturday night. It was the first and only time I saw them, but I heard from a few buddies who had seen them in the early days ('69-'73) that the '77 Forum gigs were among the best the band ever played.

Remember the 45 minutes "Dazed and Confused?" ....or when Page took out his black Telecater for "Kashmir?" .....or the amazing versions of "Nobody's Fault But Mine" and "Sick Again?" ...Man, what a great night.

I saw them in '77 at the L.A. Forum, and my ears are still ringing to this day.

I also saw them in '77, at Madison Square Garden. It was the first BIG concert that I ever attended. I still remember it fairly well, it was an awesome experience. I think they opened with Black Dog. Led Zep was one of the two best bands I had the pleasure of seeing in person. The other band was The Clash, at Shea Stadium, when they opened for The Who in '82 or '83.

I'd love to see The Clash get back together for a tour.

The Who toured after John Entwistle achieved room temperature.

I was too young to see Zep in concert when Bonham was alive, if they tour again I will go see them and suck up whatever cost the tickets are.

I saw Robert Plant when he toured for Now & Zen and he was fantastic. When I flipped on VH1 to see Plant perform songs from his newest album I was shocked at how much age has taken it's toll on his looks, but his voice was still as good.

I saw Bonham in concert at Hammerjacks in Baltimore (no longer there) years ago. I didn't think he was that bad either.

Hmmmmm..........don't know about that one. I've been slinging a rock 'n' roll axe for well over 30 years (and considered pretty good at it).....and I find "The Immigrant Song" VERY difficult to play properly. There are no fewer than 5 individual notes (ok, 2 notes: one played four times, the other played once.....an octave up) played in that riff, and damned fast. Every guitarist I've seen try to play it with the wave of a hand blows it. They truncate the riff.

Speaking of riffs.............can anyone name another guitarist who is better known specifically for his riffs than Jimmy Page? I mean, I believe that there are plenty of guitarists who can mop the floor with Page (Gary Moore, Frank Marino, Eddie Van Halen, Nuno Bettencourt, etc.), but with the possible exception of the inimitable Brian May of Queen, no one else has plied the airwaves with so many readily-recognizeable, hooky riffs as Jimmy Page.
