Have seen reports about a dark colored car. Perhaps a diversion and two vehicles are being used? One can only hope that when they close of roads that theya re looking at all vehicles and not just the white van! Seems there has to be a diversionary one!

From Sierra Times - my opinion is that this may actually help.
"Answer: Little or no citizen participation. The police are turning the metro area residents into prisoners of war the moment they arrive on the scene. Here's my suggestion:
Long before the new rave of the "Amber alert" system, every radio station was tapped into to something called the "Emergency Broadcast System" (EBS). This should be utilized for this operation. All metro area residents would be asked to have their radios playing while driving - any station will do. The moment a sniper incident happens and is confirmed, have someone with authority make an announcement via the EBS asking everyone listening to slow down and stop the vehicles in place - don't pull over, just stop the vehicles."
I would add that if you have a cb get on channel 19 and listen and use if necessary.

Olive skin has been whitewashed already. What did you mean by that? This is not a good time for archness, obscure or learned references, or labored metaphors. Please restate.

thought it was worth a mention since the NYP Who is NYP? Could you be a little less cryptic?

Olive skin could have been part of a disguise, or the perp might disguise it away now.

Do you recall who posted about the alternating black/white victims?

Isn't there a large Mosque in that neighborhood and large Islamic community? I'm thinking the killer came from that immediate area and has thus tipped his location. He knew he could not survive a long trip home this time based on what happened the last time, so he planned this one close to home. He lives nearby. He was home or safe with sympathizers within 10 minutes. This is also the first in Fairfax county and is very different in that it was a site that was not near an Interstate.
Conclusion: this is Islamic terrorism.

there is a mosque a few miles away. but that does not convince me that it was islamic terrorists, could be, but i would not be certain of it, based on the location of this shooting. the area is much more of a latino/asian area than arab, though it is diverse to an extreme, make no mistake. Also it was 2 mi. in from a Beltway exit.

I read on another thread that the dark-colored car being sought had what was described as a "religious bumper sticker." They didn't say what religion, of course. And it's also possible that this is just a rumor and that the dark-colored car has nothing to do with it. Has anybody else heard this?

Being so close to the Beltway, is probably why they got away. By the time police get there and start shutting down exit routes, the shooter is already out of the area. Even if its only 5 minutes, its long enough for the shooter to get away. :(

i don't know, the cycles to get through the dang lights in 7 Corners takes a few minutes each. i don't see him getting to the Beltway all that quickly, and that presumes that he was traveling westbound on Route 50 to even have him pointing in the proper direction. There is no quick in or out of this shopping center area. But i do want to hear more from whomever supposedly saw him exit the vehicle and take the shot. I am curious where that was, and then it would indicate which direction he was traveling to/from.

the area is much more of a latino/asian area than arab, "Olive skin" could be Mediterranean or mestizo or Southwest Asian.....not much help.
Besides, at night, even using field glasses at a brightly lit football game, I sometimes can't tell what someone's ethnicity is unless he's really dark. No, the "olive" complexion thing doesn't help much.
What impresses me is the fanaticism. Either the guy's deranged, or it really is terrorists. This is getting beyond the Klebold-and-Harris thing, does anyone agree? Either this guy is borderline mental, or he really is a terrorist.
Comment?
This shooting really shook me up last night. On Saturday afternoon, I stopped for gas at the (Exxon, I think) gas station on the other side of Route 50 from the Home Depot. I specifically chose that station because it was inside the beltway, and didn't have a straight and easy path to any of the interstates. I thought it would be too risky for the shooter to show up there. So much for that thought.
My girlfriend and I are shutting down for a few days. I'm riding the Metro to work, and we're going nowhere until we feel safe again. If there are a couple more shootings like this without catching the perp(s), they'll probably cancel the Marine Corp Marathon.

I know what you mean. i pumped my own gas friday AM, at 5:30 am in the dark and rain, at the Mobil at Lee Hwy and Graham Road and never gave the sniper a thought (1 mi. away from this site). Then Friday AM, the sniper shoots someone else at a gas station and last night it is right in my virtual front yard. i was grateful to see my husband had filled the tank with gas yesterday, when i got in the car this AM to go to work.

you are right, olive skin in that area means nothing. 90% of the shoppers in that shopping center have olive skin~!
