After nearly a year of running for the Senate and 50 minutes of debate where he painted himself as a Democrat Jesse Helms, Erskine Bowles has admitted that he worked 5 years for the Clinton Administration.
Did you Freepers know that Erskine takes all of the credit for the Balanced Budget in '95?

I never heard of the man until last night. I missed the first few seconds and missed the name of the town name where his hq is located. The man is making money and doing right with his employees. We will see what happens if some contracts dry up and he starts losing money. Guess where the first cutbacks will be.

Hey NC Freepers. I saw a fawning 60 Minutes story on the guy who owns SAS. Where's he put his money? The press coverage was way to favorable for a Republican. My recollection is that Goodnight and company were big supporters of Edwards.
SAS sets a liberal standard around here with onsite daycare, gay benefits, etc, etc.

Have you tried to locate a website. I imagine he is into
the billions of dollars floating through RTP. The office
building is Silicon Valley opulent.

dull a debate as I have ever seenYou think? To me it was like watching paint dry and a train wreck at the same time. They were saying the same thing and all it became was who can spend money faster? Generic prescription drugs not good enough for prescription drug plans? The Healthcare Act of 1993 didn't go far enough? I can't WAIT for the transcript for this.

Thanks for the ping... I only got to hear it on the radio (except for the last 5 minutes).

He must have been low key publicly because I watch politics pretty close in N.C. and I never heard of him. Going by his bio on the web site, this guy is smart and lucky.

+Yeah, the carpetbagger thing backfired on him.
- She dodged reparations
0 to both- Generics might possibly cause major drug manufacs to neglect further R&D, since they would be forced to sell drugs at little-to-no profit.
+ She smacked him across the head repeatedly about overseas jobs ie; his family owned textiles selling out and crossing the border
+/- Neither scored on military, either standard of living for military, or deployments to Mid-East. However, few here at Bragg have forgotten what was attempted in Fla. to military overseas voters.
+ Bowels hasnt grasped that his 'guilt-by-association' to the Clinton'istas is still a stinking albatross around his neck.
- Dole doesnt equate her run here with the Witch in N.Y.
Not a fair comparison, but on N.C. voters minds never-the-less.
As for the hosts, Larry Stogner from channel 11, and David Crabtree from channel 5.
Crabtree has always seemed to have a slight liberal slant, and Stogner the slight conservative lean. Might be my perception...Some very fair questions asked tho IMO

IRKSOME BOWELS alert!
To: dwilli
I think he is pretty low key about politics... and everything else.
A few years ago, I heard something on WRAL to the regard that he never gives interviews.
I do not know if that is still true.
To: Constitution Day
My apoligies for type casting. (That Etheridge donation is disturbing) I seem to recall someone at SAS hosting a Edwards fundraiser.
There is a John Sall at SAS who gave to Gore/Price/Etheridge and others in large amounts.
Sounds like they are equal opportunity givers without a company ideology. I can live with that.

What is the name of the country club he owns? It mentioned
$30,000 bucks to join for non-employees. Thats top dollar
for this part of NC not counting Pinehurst CC.

Liddy came across as calm, cool, collected, sounded way to liberal for me as they both fought for the muddy middle. If she doesn't give Helms's conservative voters a reason to come out for her, they'll stay home and drink beer, and she'll lose.
I think that may be why Bowles keeps baiting her to fight for the center with all that old-folks-and-veterans stuff. She should be throwing them red meat -- namely, chunks and haunches of Mr. Pencil-Neck. She oughtta remind them that this guy was a bellboy who spent five years wet-vacuuming the Oval Office rug.

Compared to national debates, the moderators seemed slightly to the right of Jesse (Helms of course).
Good scoring, BTW.
+ Bowels hasnt grasped that his 'guilt-by-association' to the Clinton'istas is still a stinking albatross around his neck.
I think he grasps this very well, hence the title of this thread. He's gone out of his way to avoid any connection.
Liddy mentioned the Clinton many more times than Bowels who I think only said the 'C' word once.

Way too moderate, but she is definitely better than Irksome. I like that. Irksome Bowels, it has a ring to it. Sounds almost Confucian.
