Incumbent Republican Sen. Tim Hutchinson (news, bio, voting record) and Democratic challenger Mark Pryor are in a dead heat in their Senate race, according to a poll commissioned by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
The newspaper reported Sunday that Hutchinson garnered support from 45.2 percent of those polled and Pryor, the state's attorney general, received 45.4 percent.
Zogby International of Utica, N.Y., conducted the telephone survey of 500 randomly selected, registered, likely voters. The poll was taken Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The margin of error was plus or minus 4.5 percentage points.
A Democrat-Gazette poll conducted about a month ago showed Pryor at 45.1 percent and Hutchinson at 42.6. The newspaper's mid-August poll put Hutchinson at 45.5 percent and Pryor at 42.9.
The election is Nov. 5.

This is actually good news in Arkansas. The other polls had him down by double figures.

Too close for a Republican to win. Looks like demoncratic election fraud will steal this one from the Republicans.

You're right. republicans really need to be on their guard for massive voter fraud this election. Look at what's already been uncovered in S.D. We need Freepers in these hotly contested states to be working the polls, the GOP is much too timid for us to trust them to keep the dems honest.

It's too bad that Hutchinson divorced and remarried, which is said to be the reason why he is in trouble, but I wish someone would persuade conservative Christian voters in Arkansas that staying home or voting for Pryor would be a thousand times worse than voting for Hutchinson.

Based on combingin polls. However, I bet they learned their lesson, and that does not change the individual polls which are promising to the GOP.

"Looks like demoncratic election fraud will steal this one from the Republicans." Perhaps, and this election concerns me. However, in response to obvious Rat fraud in Arkansas, we have FReepers signing on as poll watchers in vulnerable areas.

"It's too bad that Hutchinson divorced and remarried, which is said to be the reason why he is in trouble" Yep. Everybody knows that only Rats can indulge in such behavior.
To: finnman69
With a +/- of 4.5% the real poll results were most likely Republican was 49.5 while the DemocRat was 40.9%. After the polls were adjusted for the libral media the candidates became neck and neck. The only way to get living rats to vote is to make them think they could loose. WWhen the polls look heavy in favor of the rats the living, honest voters stay at home.

How, then, are we to influence the GOP to produce better candidates? If we say 'character doesn't matter' and vote for whoever and whatever the state party puts up, aren't we (deservedly) taken for granted and left stuck on our plantation just like most blacks are on the DemoRat side?

The late breaking undecided voters in the state's grave yards should strongly favor Pryor.
To: Sloth
Sloth that is the reason why reps always lose elections character does count but a guy who simply gets divorced and remmarried is hardly a reason to vote against the guy. If so Ronald Reagan would never have been president. The republicans have really yet to make a compelling case for voting for them other then saying their simply not democrats. George Bush has essentially become a one man gang for that party. Trying to change the flow of history for only the third time in the last century and noone seems to be helping the guy. He reminds me of John Elway before Terrell Davis arrived in Denver essentially putting the team on his back which is what Bush seems to be doing. He does more campainging for the likes of Allard and Hutchinson then do Allard and Hutchinson themselves. Hell Rush Limbaugh was ragging on Bush today that if doesn't conquer Iraq he shouldn't even run for re-election. I don't pitty to many politicians but I pity this guy he gets it from all sides and still keeps smiling. Come to think of it this party would be a disaster without the guy.
