J.C. Penney Catalog: GI Joe Commandeers Barbie's Dream House by Eric Garris September 27, 2002
Thumbing through the J.C. Penney Christmas Catalog, Antiwar.com's Administrative Assistant Anastasia Kellar came across this horrific picture in the toys section.
Here is what J.C. Penney's says about this product: Forward Command Post $44.99 Take command of your soldiers from this fully outfitted battlezone. 75-piece set includes one 111/2"H figurine in military combat gear, toy weapons, American flag, chairs and more. Assembled dimensions; 32x16x32"H. Plastic. 10 lbs. Ages 5 and up. This looks like the sort of toy that Norman Podhoretz or Bill Kristol would buy for their kids. I was a pretty inventive kid. If I had had a younger sister I am confident I could have converted her Barbie Dream House and saved the $45. You may want to tell J.C. Penney's how you feel about this atrocity. Their corporate office can be reached at 972-431-1000. Personally, I will be cutting my card in half and sending it with a letter to their corporate office at 6501 Legacy Drive Plano, TX 75024-3698. It is worth noting that, during the Kosovo war, J.C. Penney's added Antiwar.com to their list of websites blocked on all their corporate computers. We have also located similar products at two online toystores, eToys and KB Toys. Both companies are owned by KB Holdings, 2833 S. Jones Blvd., Suite 8, Las Vegas, NV 88102. Phone number 303-228-9000, fax number 303-226-8600.

eToys/KB Toys still happily sells this excellent and fun toy! Order one now for your kid this Christmas, and annoy the left!
Update: I couldn't find this product at Toys R Us/Amazon, but they do sell this delicious little number:

Only $19.99!

The 61mm mortar needs to be placed on the ground or else Joe and the mortar will go right through the second story floor! What a great gift - my son will be getting one to add to his collection of GI Joes this Christmas.

Add a couple of body bags and a CNN SatCam truck, a pile of empty MRE's and the possibilities are endless!!! :-)

Too bad my son has outgrown G.I. Joe's --- although we did see some dressed out as hunter's that he took a very long look at..
Nah, can't buy it for the son --- now the hubby, this may be just the ticket. !!!

My six year old is into GI Joe and Soldiers of the World BIG TIME now. I happily buy him these toys. He spends hours being the good American soldier pretending to win wars against the bad guys. Right now he can't wait to grow up and be "a soldier who flies an airplane".
He saw this in the Penny's catalog and wants it for Christmas because his GI's have poor living conditions ( tents made from towels lol ). Now, if I could only find a place to buy the 12" soldiers some planes, vehicles, tanks and such ( at REASONABLE prices ). Can anyone here suggest a source for these?????
Oh, my daughter's Barbies have all been converted to nurses for the wounded soldiers and many of them have had "military makeovers" to their normally good looks because the army requires that the nurses have short hair ( in his mind ).
When he isn't playing with his army men he is playing Medal of Honor or Conflict: Desert Storm on his playstation ( we have to pry him from these after his time alotment is up ). So yes, I am such a non PC mom.

To heck with the itty-bitty mortar - I want the Ma Deuce!

You may want to tell J.C. Penney's how you feel about this atrocity. Their corporate office can be reached at 972-431-1000. That will be my first call this morning when I get to work. I'll be telling them that I intend to purchase three of these dioramas for Christmas gifts for my cousins, and that I intend to recommend them to all of my friends.

Corporate owners of G.I.Joe should sue Anti-War.com for this libel. This is not a
G.I. Joe toy product.
The etoys and kbtoys links are still valid. The link I went to on JC Penney's site (found on a blog site) displays "The item selected is currently not available. Please try another" so maybe J.C.Penney has already succumbed to the interests of anti-American-war protesters.
