The 6th District of OH was redrawn this year. It now consists of the following counties: Athens (part), Belmont (part), Columbiana, Gallia, Jefferson, Lawrence, Mahoning (part), Meigs, Monroe, Noble, Scioto (part), Washington,
The district's incumbent Congressman, radical-disguised-as-moderate Ted Strickland, now faces a situation where a large plurality has never had a chance to vote for/against him.
Although this race is not seen as "competitive" by the national media, THEY ARE WRONG. Mike Halleck, the Republican, is running a spirited campaign and working an appearance schedule that would send most of us to the hospital.
Just a sampling of Strickland's far-left views: He has voted AGAINST the Born Alive Infant Protection Act, FOR the 1993 Clinton tax increase, and (almost certain) AGAINST the Bush 2001 tax cut. He voted against Clinton's impeachment, and even led demostrations against it in Athens. In correspondence to yours truly, he blasted the Reagan tax cuts of the 80s and the "false" economic prosperity it led to. He "abstained" from voting on a House resolution denouncing the American Psychological Association for publishing an article supporting pedophilia.
Now, 3-1/2 weeks before the election, Mr. Strickland has handed his challenger a gift: He voted AGAINST the Iraq Resolution. This vote exposes Strickland as the far-leftist he has always been on every issue except for the right to keep and bear arms (and I believe he would abandon this is Dick Gephardt ordered it).
Send "Saddam Strickland" packing!
