Calling Muhammad terrorist spurs condemnation, deadly riots

BOMBAY, India, Oct. 12 — Four people were killed Saturday as Hindus and Muslims clashed in the western Indian town of Solapur in continuing violence triggered after the Rev. Jerry Falwell called the founder of Islam a terrorist. The statements brought a storm of criticism from around the world. On Friday, five people were killed in Hindu-Muslim rioting and police gunfire after riots broke out during a general strike to protest Falwell’s words.

I don't think Falwell is a klutz at all, LOL!
In fact, his comments are tame compared to what I would say about their "great" Mohammad, LOL!!

well, even as a Christian, I may not agree with Falwell on many things ... but he's right on this ... amazingly, the garbage that pours forth from many mosques and clerics goes largely unnoticed ... but few can discern the difference ...

Every once in a while you get a smoking gun from the biased media just like this one.

Nailing Falwell using a riot on the other side of the planet is about as low as I've ever seen the biased liberal media go.

The headline is not "Four Killed During Riot in India", or even more truthfully "Muslims Riot in Solapur, India". No, that wouldn't serve the agenda. Instead, they've gotta find any way they can to get Jerry's name in there.

The reporter comes right out and says in the article that Muslims started the riot, but then has to go fishing to link Falwell to it.

Let's try an experiment. Falwell can say, "I think Moses was a violent man, and Jesus was peaceful." Let's count the number of buildings that get burned down in New York.

Honestly, for Muslims to effectively run around saying, "Islam is peaceful and we don't care how many people have to die to prove it!" is ridiculous.

A partnership made in hell: our biased liberal media and the "religion of peace".

Hmmm let's see....

Falwell says "Islam's prophet "was a — a violent man, a man of war."

Sooo......

"Muslim organizations called Falwell's remarks derogatory and blasphemous."

Then....

" Muslims took to the streets, rioters targeted shops, homes and vehicles, police said. Forty-seven others were injured. "

Last month before Falwell's statement....

"suspected Islamic militants killed at least 32 Hindus in an attack at the popular Swaminarayan Temple in Gujarat."

Falwell further says...

"Jesus set the example for love, as did Moses," I think Muhammad set an opposite example."

I think Falwell should get some kind of "Truth of the Year" award.

Of course, this is the same place where dozens get killed when the TV station doesn't show a World Cup soccer match. Something in the Tandori.

Ditto that. One thing that makes me laugh is the whining US Islamics. They complain about possible terrorists being locked up. In our face. But when we grieved, almost all of them stayed home. They were scared, don't you know. But they sure aren't scared to confront us directly. "First they let loose the dogs of war. Then they cry. Then they lie." Not sure who first said that about Islamics. Rings true to me.

A Kid: Mommy mommy! Muslims are rioting in India!

Sucker Mom: No honey. Jerry Falwell is causing Muslims to riot in India. Say it!

A Kid: Jerry Falwell is causing Muslims to riot in India.

Sucker Mom: Much better.

A Kid: Thank you for correcting my thinking.

The talk-show hostess is intellectually, spiritually, and logically halfbaked and underdone if she thinks she is in a position to make judgments about folk's salvation.

Excuse me, but isn't that a TREE growing out of that store? We are to believe that the store with the HUGE TREE growing out of it had something to lose in a riot?

I agree, I doubt any person living in that area even knows who Falwell is or what he said, this is obviously spin, disinformation. Shame on MSNBC.

Jerry Falwell made some comment that caused deadly riots in..... Solapur, India??

Sure, Jerry's on the jumbotron in downtown Solapur 24/7. These people don't do anything until they hear from Falwell first.

That's what makes these comments of his so terribly reckless.

Has Ibraham Hooper made any comments on this situation yet?

I'm sure he has a reasonable explanation for this violent behavior.../sarcasm

Hooper had this to say in response to Franklin Graham's description on Islam as "wicked" back on August 6th, 2002.

"Mainstream political leaders and religious figures must speak out against the growing demonization of Islam by extremist right-wing commentators and by representatives of the evangelical Christian community. Defamatory attacks on other faiths can only lead to a spiral of distrust and intolerance that will divide our society along religious lines," said CAIR Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper.

Hooper quoted the Quran, which states: "Invite (all) to the way of thy Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious." (16:125)

BTW, I can only assume that the peaceful muslims in India did not get wind of Graham's remarks or whole cities probably would have been destroyed in protest.

And if Muslims are destroying their own property because of Jerry Falwell's words, we need to get him to give a speech every day.

LOL!! No Doubt. Maybe we can have him take over CNN and pump him full of no-doze.

A very good point you make!

Of course, Christians had a very similar experience when the abortion bombings and doctor shootings were occurring.

I have heard the argument about Islam having legitimate grievances.

Well, I strongly oppose abortion. To me the issue was legitiate But...

Every major Christian leader (even Falwell), along with 99% of all Christians, denounced these terrorist acts as being un-Christian, unlawful and wrong. They called for them to cease!

There were no mainstream ministers urging the violence to escalate, the opposite was true. I just do not see the same response from the Islamic leaders.

If Islam has been demonized, it has done so to itself. The silence and condemnation of themselves continues to be most deafening.

"...Jerry Falwell called the founder of Islam a terrorist..."

Wouldn't it be more accurate to call old Mo a child molester?

You know, the 9 year old wife deal?

It's his goat-dating followers who are the terrorists.
