Also note that the sniper is hitting all the gas stations in the area (multiple different store names) and the recent al qaeda bombing of a tanker.

Anyone with a few brain cells working should see how this may be islamic. There's still a chance that it's a home grown nut, but I really doubt it.

If this is a terrorist plot, they would get much more mileage from using different groups in cities across the country. If this happened say in St. Louis and then Denver and then Charlotte, and then Milwaukee, etc. there would be much more hysteria, everywhere.

I know that we are cracking down on their organization, but I have to believe that there are sleeper cells here and that they could easily have cash to move about the country and communicate with each other, maybe through pre-paid cell phones.

I know that we can't discount the terrorist angle, but I would be somewhat surprised that is the case.

The longer this goes on, the more likely it is an enemy action or a provocative action rather than a lone nut or two. If it also starts up in other cities, then there won't be much doubt. The only part missing from the usual terrorist incident is no one has claimed the deeds. But it was a while before WTC911 was claimed, and even then it wasn't and still hasn't been claimed openly.

OK; it's all conjecture, but this is the Metro DC area, the nation's capital. Emotionally similar to NYC.

How does the Tarot card fit into this theory?

You may be on to something. I like the idea of bringing in some professional snipers, they may have a lot to offer. Someone is going to see something soon, if this keeps up. We are all looking now. We should install cameras everywhere possible. Also a plan to close off every artery around an area when a shooting happens. This guy or guys will make a mistake, imo.

I know, I don't totally disagree with you.

As I said, I would be somewhat surprised, but certainly not totally, mainly because of the DC connection you mentioned.

I don't have a problem with the terrorist scenario, but why only one area?
I would've thought they'd want to create as much mayhem at once as possible, and coordinate their attacks for maximum impact and chaos.

100% in agreement, former Marine here as well.

It takes a sniper to kill a sniper.

It's time for the President to covertly deploy our boys.

The Tarrot card said, "Dear Policeman, I am God"

Islaminazi Terrorists believe that they are under the direction of Allah, that they are, in fact, the hand of God on earth - eradicating the infidels.

Frankly, the tarrot card nailed it as a 90% terrorist operation for me.

It's not an urban myth, but it actually happened about a year ago...shortly after 911. These guys were practicing at a remote quarry in WA and caught the attention of locals who called the police.

Though they were all ultimately released after that incident, it led to a series of events which exposed the cell in Portland (after a year long stake out and investigation).

I've had this on my mind since the shooting on Monday.
Disciplined enough to hold in check for two days and then start again.
Proficient enough that one shot hits the target.
Proficient enough to ingress an area with a rifle unnoticed.
Proficient enough to egress an area AFTER a shooting with a rifle unnoticed.
Unworried that there is a LEO in the area.

It doesn't seem that a serial killer would hit like this.
These are planned, perhaps rehearsed, actions. Timing, action, preparedness, maybe training, certainly practice with the rifle.

Wait for it to start in other areas.

Give me my 2nd amendmant rights!

"Nailing the local economy in the area."

Everyone I know (including me) is thinking twice about walking through any open parking lot (stores, restaurants)...not to mention visiting gas stations; or letting the kids play outside. (Thank the Lord for the rain)

This IS starting to feel like something more than the "average nut". Whoever is doing this is circling the capital and bringing this entire area to a "psychological lockdown".

I hope whoever it is..is stopped soon.

I wished I had saved the thread about a terrorist training camp found in rural Alabama, complete with what was described as a modern 300 yard firing range. I'll search for it.

Matter of fact, IIRC, complaints of constant shooting is what got the LE ball rolling on that case.

Would an Islamic say "I am god" or "I am Allah?"
