UNC to host Islam Awareness Week

New motion filed in fight about Quran reading

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.(AP) - Attorneys for the organization that sued the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill over a summer reading program that included a book about the Quran have filed a new motion.

The American Family Association's Center for Law and Policy said in an amended federal court complaint that UNC is attempting to push Islam upon its students. The university is hosting a number of events related to the religion this fall, the complaint said.

The group, which counts three unnamed UNC students among its five plaintiffs, earlier this year tried to block the university from administering its summer reading program.

The program also included the requirement that students write an essay and come to campus prepared to discuss the book in small groups. University officials said the program wasn't required.

A federal court denied the group's attempt to block the summer reading program, which went off as scheduled Aug. 19.

Attorneys now hope to stop UNC from administering a series of other campus events related to the Muslim faith. They include campus seminars, round-table discussions and an Islamic awareness week, scheduled for the week of Nov. 11-15.

"We were under the impression that the summer reading program was limited to the reading of a single book, and then the writing of the essay and the discussion group," said Michael DePrimo, an attorney for the plaintiffs. "There's a lot more going on than we thought there was when we first filed our complaint."

Although the complaint has been amended, much of the basis for the plaintiffs' accusations are the same. Attorneys plan to argue that by requiring the reading program and allowing so many campus activities focusing on Islam, the university is in essence trying to show the religion in a good light.

"The issue is whether or not the university is advancing the religion of Islam," DePrimo said. "And clearly they are."

The amended complaint was filed Oct. 4, and UNC has 20 days to respond. The issue will be decided in a federal district court in Greensboro.

"We will respond appropriately and in a timely fashion," said UNC's General Counsel Susan Ehringhaus, who declined further comment.

The lawsuit was organized by the Family Policy Network, a Virginia-based Christian values group

Along with the three unnamed UNC freshmen, the plaintiffs in the case are Terry Moffitt, chairman of the board of the Family Policy Network, and James Yacovelli, the group's state director for North Carolina. Yacovelli and Moffitt sued in their capacities as residents and taxpayers in North Carolina.

Bomb making classes and chick beating lessons - that's why you pay $20,000 a year to send your kid to college.

Middle,

There is no denying that Islam is a religion of violence, born of a warrior, spread by his own sword and still clings to death to the heathens. I do not believe that all people who are muslim, are violent people... I am sure there are peaceful people practicing it who actually believe it is a religion of peace.

It is undeniable however that Islam is a violent religion, it glorifies and calls for the violence against non believers. The evidence is self evident, look at denmark or other nations where muslims import in large numbers, they group rape non muslims, suck up huge amounts of the social welfare budgets and generally believe they deserve it and those that are not muslim are cattle and can be used, abused and treated as animals. Look at India for instance, once they won their independence, what did they have to do to have peace? Create a state to seperate pakastan to stop the violence between hindus and muslims. More than 1/2 the wars on this planet involve Muslims on at least 1 side of the conflicts.

Islam is a religion founded in violence and intolerance, and spreads hatred, opression and pestilence and war on every inch of the world it touches. It is the religion of terrorism, it invented modern terrorism, encourages it, preaches it, and indoctrinates children that the highest achievement they can do with their live is to die while killing jews or the west.

I know there are people who are peacful and practice this religion, but it is abject bafoonery to argue this warriors religion is a religion of peace. It is a religion from and stuck in the tribal middle ages, it destroys all it gains control over. It fundamentally cannot seperate the political from the personal, which is why every islamic state is a complete tyranny, and always ends up in failure. It is an orthodoxy that allows no deviation, no self thought, it edicts down every part of a persons life, and stresses conformity and automotomic drones.

So do I believe Islam is a religion of violence and terror? You better believe I do, the evidence is overwhelming, it is not coincidence that worldwide terrorists flock to Islam. Do I believe every muslim is a terrorist? No, I don't. But they as a religion refuse to clean their own house, even the so called "moderate" muslim organizations have been funneling money to terror, as released just this past weak. It is a religion of hatred and violence... born of a warrior who spread it by the sword. It is not a religion of peace.

"University officials said the program wasn't required."

Actually, it was required in the beginning, but the university had to back off because of the outcry.

Maybe during Muslim awareness week, some of the students should dress up as victims of homocide bombers. You know, to raise student awareness of the real goals of Islam. Think that would be acceptable to the university?

"Think that would be acceptable to the university.?"

Of course! Are you accusing them of being selective in regards to academic freedom of expression? (SARCASM!)

A well read individual should quickly recognize that Muhammed co-opted his new "religion" from Judaism and Christianity in a rather cynical bid for power against otherwise pagan Arabs who had likely put the whammy on some of his trading activities. When the Jews of Medina would not buy his evident claims to being even their messiah, he confiscated their wealth to further the building of an army that swept across all of Arabia within two years. Thus was Islam born and subsequently spread by theft, warfare and imposition.

He compounded evidently devout polygamy with pedophilia by marrying a six-year old girl, which was undoubtedly way outside of earlier Hebrew and hence even likewise appropriated Muslim custom of at least allowing a girl her first menses before so taking her. In evidently attempting to make this somehow more palatable, the Hadith calims that he didn't copulate with her before aged nine. But even quoted herself therein, one can readily sense quite a bit of Ayeshe's anxiety about the foul business in her own words.

Personally I don’t find much honor in any of these circumstances, nor in anyone who would endorse them, in either the earlier or present day.

Islamism is the invocation or actualization of jihad to impose sharia, or Quranic law on the infidel. Again, personally, I do not care whether it represents a spiritual or actual physical struggle to the individual Muslim. I do however, recognize it as dangerous in an environment where Islamism has declared war against America, and would therefore urge the deportation of virtually all non-citizen Muslims.

As for Americans, Islamism is the enemy in this war. I would suggest that Muslims lay low, lest they be revealed as Islamists, and should therefore be charged with sedition and possible Treason.

Any Muslims about care to comment on Islamism?

Follow the money. Seems like I read about how UNC was being funded by islam money. There's got to be a money angle to this - in essence that is what universities do - sell themselves to the highest bidder, whether the bidder is NIH, Nike, wealthy alumni etc. etc. When I was at UNC, the crew of "Patch Adams" took over the campus for a month so they could film their lame movie. My guess is that if you wanted to have "Scientology Awareness Week" at UNC you could have it for a price.

angry? ... so you're a koran spin doctor? ... let's hear you explain away the verses from above? ... let's hear how angry you are about 9/11? ... are you marching in protest to the bombers attacking Israelis on busses, in restaurants, in hotels and discos and out on streets? are you marching in protest to the attacks on 9/11? ... I have accurately quoted the koran from an online koran except I refuse to put "God" where they mean "allah" ... does it bother you that I post these direct quotes from the koran? ...

c) have a propaganda agenda.

what a joke ... your muslim brethren killed 3,000+ Americans, stole and destroyed 4 commerical airliners, destroyed 2 110-story buildings, plus several around it, smashed the Pentagon, slit the throats of innocent female flight attendants, stabbed passengers to death, killed 343 New York City firefighters, and 100+ NYC police trying to resuce people from the death and destruction these peace-loving bastards caused ... and you're trying to explain it away with anti-Jewish statements?

and you accuse me of "propaganda" ... it's called THE TRUTH ...

What's with these folks anyway?

It's simple, really. Universities are rated by personnel at other universities. So, if you want to be ranked in the top 10 MBA schools, for example, you have to impress deans, presidents, and etc. of other schools... all of whom are extreme leftists. UNC-Chapel Hole has probably already moved up a couple of notches on the various lists.
