The USO Canteen FReeper Style
Delivering a Touch of Home

.

.

A Touch of Home

.

This is how I think of the USO Canteen
Freeper Style. It is like a cottage down a road,
a place where a weary veteran can spend the night.

Since it opened, it is magical how so many
Freepers who post here, feel it too.
It has been so dear how the Freepers
kept making it a cottage - a home-type of
place that had a huge living room
for them to visit in and a dance floor,
a library, etc.

Many Veterans have written to me,
saying that the Canteen is like home
to them for the first time since they
served.

This is your Canteen -
a respite from our busy
and sometimes troubling world.
Make yourself at home.

Snow Bunny

.

If you know a Veteran, someone in your family,
friend of the family, neighbor, who served their
country, take a brief moment of your day to thank
them.

Thank them for the sacrifice they made
for the better good of their country.

We at Free Republic, and the USO Canteen FReeper
Style, are thankful for every service member
in our military, who has served our great nation.

So, to the men and women who answered the call,
in both times of war and peace, thank you.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

John McCrae

.

The USO Canteen Honors FReepers
who have served, or are now serving their country.

.

You may have a loved one who has served in the past.
We at the FReeper USO Canteen would like to honor each and every one.

Thank you for serving Zbigniew !

Ok, I'm jumping around here a little bit.

Looks like we're gonna be fightin' over the wheel of this hot rod!! I sure hope Beamer's bowls are well out of the way...and Beamer, too! LOL!

Oh no! Just had a thought! Is Beamer going to want to drive this, too!!!

Ok, good. You're taking care of Beamer's bowls so we don't run into them with the Mopar. Do you have any extra raincoats handy in case Beamer takes over the wheel? hahaha!

I know it seems we are never home anymore and it's going to be like this for awhile. Little Quickdraw just saw I was posting to you and he said "HELLO, SNOWBUNNY!" ...We are taking Lil' QD to a birthday party and then it's off to music practice/date night for Quickdraw and me. (Lil' BUP is with her friend who is visiting from Canada, COTEBLANCHE).

We did shop, didn't we? Did I wear you out, or did you wear me out? I can't remember...

Here, Belle. You'll be cold on your trip. You'll need a leather coat - take mine.

Radu, I think Snow put Beamer's bowls up so we won't put any more dents in them. And I can be happy as a passenger. You and Duchess will have to fight over the driving. And I'm sorry, but Beamer will NOT be allowed to drive today, even tho Flagman taught him to drive. There are not enough raincoats to compensate for the slober that would be generated at the speeds anticipated. He can come with us, but no driving, no matter how much he whines, and even if Snow volunteers to sit behind him. There would be too much collateral slober.

Hey, radu! I'm still here, kind of. The technicians are working at the main line and told me to get on line and watch for when it goes off line again. Then they will call and see if they are seeing anything at the main line in regards to it going off line. They are trying to see what the deal is, why the internet keeps going off line. I guess our whole neighborhood is doing this. I think they are getting tired of the mad phone calls. *shesh* What a mess.
