ITHACA -- Local academics said President George W. Bush offered no new evidence in a speech Monday for going to war with Iraq, while GOP faithful called the speech convincing and clear.
"President Bush systematically addresses the main criticisms of his rush to war with Iraq, but he does not provide any new arguments or evidence," said Matthew A. Evangelista, director of Cornell University's Peace Studies Program.

As is typical, the liberals are described in non-partisan terms and, in this case, referred to as "academics," while the pro-Bush sources are invariably identified as "republicans," in an effort to portray their opinions as biased.
Matthew A. Evangelista, director of Cornell University's Peace Studies Program...
Sigh...your tuition dollars at work.
As far as "Ithaca College assistant politics professor Chip Gagnon" goes it appears that, not only is he part of the "peace studies" scam also, but he teaches a course on, basically, how white people are inherently evil.
"Unfortunately, Mr. Bush said nothing new, persuasive, or -- for that matter --truthful in his speech," Barlas said. "It seems he is determined to follow in the footsteps of his father and the long line of presidents who have lied to the American people. "From New York City to San Francisco, people are condemning his policy as war-mongering, irresponsible, racist and stupid, but, clearly this administration holds the public in complete contempt," Barlas said.
Barlas has been discussed at length in these pages before, as the IC professor who proclaimed that people like Osama bin Laden, were "moderates" who hate America because America's foreign policy since World War II has been one that "seeks control over the entire world by any means necessary [and] people everywhere are sick and tired" of our "political economy based on their systematic abuse, exploitation, expropriation, and degradation."
Those previous statements led to complaints from IC alumni which, of course, made her a cause celebre in Ithaca, the City of Evil.

"Deep thinkers" vs "mindless sheep" even.
If Bush and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld have photographic evidence that Saddam is stockpiling weapons of mass destruction, he said, "Why don't they let us see it?"
This knot head would not believe it if he saw it anyway!
Some claim they need more evidence, I think if something isn't done to stop this maddness, those doubters are going to have plenty of evidence rained upon them.
Saddam will strike America and the entire free world.
And people like Mr. Maddeo will say we had it coming...sigh.
Well, there's always religious colleges.
