Another press conference due soon. To avoid multiple vanity threads regarding any news that comes from press conferences, thought we'd keep a live commentary thread going again today.

There are some crazy Irish Travelers who may not care what's good for business. It's all just speculation, but they are the first group I thought of when I heard about the tarot card and heard yesterday from several Freepers and Rush's fill-in that police are looking for Hispanic-looking men in white box vans. IT's are swarthy skinned and could easily be mistaken for Hispanic. Just a thought and my 2 cents.

I disagree. You're only reacting to the "one shot, one victim" aspect, and saying that only trained terrorists would be able to be so disciplined.

However, it is completely consistent with a certain flavor of nutjob -- for instance, one who says, "I am God." If we take this as some guy's twisted idea of sport, the whole thing is easily explained.

And as I've said several times before -- these shootings do not require elaborate planning. They require only an eye for a good killing spot; a willingness and ability to kill; and the ability to calmly take a right turn into traffic and drive slowly off as an anonymous vehicle in the crowd.

If the tarot card report is correct, it confirms something else I said: that the guy is now trying to increase the thrill. I predict that he'll begin moving closer to the targets, and giving himself less margin for escape. He'll also spread out the shootings over days or weeks in hopes of maintaining the terror level.

Let's hope they get this jerk soon! Hope the perp makes a run for it and they are forced to blast him to smithereens.

It has crossed my mind the police are releasing mis-information to force the sniper to release a statement, i.e., if Islamic terrorist, would resent perhaps reference to "I am God".

I said that to my wife this morning. Also I commented in another thread that the President's Bodyguard may perhaps be involved if there was a credible threat made against his life????

The end result isn't another dead or maimed person...it is the "reaction" from the police...

I agree completely and Moose is just exactly the wrong person to be the TV face of the police. I mean, "Someone has crossed over the line and is killing children." (while tears are running down his face, is about as gratifying, in a sick sense, one could imagine)

well, I'll just repeat what I said yesterday: I'm just trying to guess moves in a game which has no rules.

Some way/somehow, this person has mentioned to do his deeds without being caught....even if he is 'hiding in plain sight'. I'm trying to think like a killer when I'm not one....I'm trying to think what a cold-blooded killer needs to cover his a$$....and I guess I find comfort that most of us *can't* think like a killer.

sorry.....I'm rambling and brainstorming....we live near the area and I'm wondering how long we can go on living like this. My girls are in school which is on Day 3 of modified lockdown....and they just want to be able to go out for recess someday. (if and when they catch this idiot, I'm all for letting the parents and kids take a whack at him!)

Washington Times story this morning repeats the paper's claim yesterday that a white box van was seen at the scene of Monday's shooting:

Police are continuing to search for the white box truck that was seen leaving Leisure World, a retirement community in Aspen Hill, on Thursday after one of the fatal attacks. A similar truck reportedly was seen after the shooting near the Bowie middle school.

Has anyone cross referenced the local Muslim prayer times to the shooting times? For example, when the young boy was shot, here are the times:

Prayer was at 7:08AM on Monday. Hmmm...

That's the first I have heard of the white truck near the middle school. All the emphasis was on the shooter being out of his vehicle and finding the shell casing (and of course, this morning, the tarot card).

Trying to keep an open mind about this, as it is easy to follow one theory and get yourself emotionally invested in its correctness, whether you are convinced it is Muslim terrorists or a domestic nut case. This is really quite hard to do, as can be seen by all of us here...LOL!

I think this might be one of the most difficult things about police work..trying to follow all evidence without selectively following that which confirms your pet theory.
