Opponents of the project, led by Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., have mounted strong opposition, complaining it will damage the fragile desert environment.

Dianne Frankenstein will end the fragile desert environment of LA, before she would risk losing the fragile votes of environmentalists.

For once, Feinstein was right. The Cadiz project was being pushed by its CEO, Keith Brackpool, a major supported of Gray Davis. The cost was huge, there would likely be little Colorado River water to store underground, and the water would have contaminated an existing aquifer that has pristine pure water. A bad deal all around. The likely result is that Brackpool's company will be unable to pay is multi-million dollar debts and go out of business.
