National Ammo Day: A brief explanation November 19, 2002 will be the first National Ammo Day. It is a nationwide BUYcott of ammunition.
 |
There are an estimated 75 MILLION gun owners in the United States of America. If each gun owner or Second Amendment supporter buys 100 rounds of ammunition, that's 7.5 BILLION rounds in the hands of law-abiding citizens! |
 |
Let the politicians, the gun-grabbers, and the international community know that America is proud of its Right to Bear Arms and we will not be disarmed. |
 |
The gun/ammunition manufacturers have been taking the brunt of all the frivolous lawsuits brought by the gun-grabbers. These gun-grabbers are trying to put these folks out of business. Well, not if we can help it! And we CAN help it by buying ammunition on November 19! |
 |
The originators of National Ammo Day will maintain the sales records (provided optionally and voluntarily by ammunition sellers) of the ammunition sold on November 19 and make this information known to the newspapers, the new services, and the politicians locally and nationally. |
 |
Imagine the power of that message... we can say to our fellow citizens that there are BILLIONS of rounds of ammunition in the hands of law-abiding citizens. Take THAT Gun-Grabbers and Million Mommies! We'll celebrate A BILLION ROUNDS. |
The goal of National Ammo Day is to empty the ammunition from the shelves of your local gun store, sporting goods, or hardware store and put that ammunition in the hands of law-abiding citizens. Make your support of the Second Amendment known--by voting with your dollars! |

Sounds like another good excuse to buy ammo!
Also, from Biggerhammer.net (Thread). We all know how important terms are in dealing with sheeple, so here are some new terms:
Homeland Defense Rifle (HDR) - a battle rifle, usually black and scary looking to most liberals and gun grabbers, (alternate: "Homeland Defense Weapon" - HDW)
Family Defense Pistol (FDP) - a pistol firearm kept at home for defense of your family,
Personal Defense Pistol (PDP) - a pistol carried 'on or about' your person for personal self-defense,
Homeland Defense Shotgun (HDS) - a shotgun with limited hunting application, typically black and scary looking to the HCI crowd,
Homeland Area-Perimeter Prepping Instrument (HAPPI) - a Claymore mine (alternate: "High Volume Homeland Defense Device" - HVHDD)
OK, so some of this is funny, but the idea is sound - framing the debate and the terms we use can have a big impact. "As_____ Rif__" is a term abused by liberals and they have made headway with it.
Henceforth and forever more, I have HDRs (even though my AR, Armalite Rifle, was always a Bushmaster anyway).

That's good stuff. No more high-powered rifle. Instead Homeland Defense Device.

A BLOAT BTT. Here's some advice I relearned last weekend:
1. Don't buy more ammo than you can carry if your hand truck is six blocks away.
2. No wonder the stuff is so heavy - the consarned manufacturers are making it out of LEAD!
To: TexasGunRunner
I am sorry, I reload for my HDR, my FDP, and my DR (Deer Rifle). I have too many lead shot (as opposed to steel shot) rounds for my HDS that I need to get rid of and are too powerful (or shot is too large) to be used at the trap range. Therefore, I will not be purchasing ammo on that day. I might try to buy some reloading components, you never have enough of those.......

Unfortunately, I didn't come up with the idea of AmmoDay or using the term HDR (I wish I were that smart).
If you go to the website, they address your concerns - reloading components count. They have some sort of point scale, and reloading components generate points that they translate into equivalent rounds.
Thanks, TGR

Ping cause you can never have too much ammo!

Ditto's on the thought that you can never have enough reloading components!
So many hungry mouths to feed; 223, 243, 257, 6.5, 7, 30, 9, 357, 45. There's probably something I left out, or something that took up residence in the safe that I don't know about yet....

Yep, I've just ordered 500rds for my FDP, but heck, November 19th is such a long way away. So many mouths to feed. I'll be BLOATin' now and then so forth and so on...
You never outgrow your need to BLOAT!

No wonder the stuff is so heavy - the consarned manufacturers are making it out of LEAD! I've found that blanks are a lot lighter, so I've stocked up on those. :-)

I refuse to use the term "As----Rif--". I prefer to say "auto or semi auto/tactical" etc.
I call my hardware: "Personal Security System" or a "Personal Security Device".
National Ammo Day--take it a step further and make a firearm purchase or put one on lay-away, OR take a non-armed friend to the range.
