Only the WP could be so enamored of this so-called "religion". With the local terrorism going on in the DC area, I couldnt believe that this "article" (propaganda) would be allowed to appear!

In Islam, he said, he found peace and racial harmony.

REALLY? Yeah, I hear they get along real well with Jews...(/sarcasm)

Islam's connections to the United States, Muhammad said, are much older and deeper than most people think.

Well, sane Europeans had to turn the Muslims away at the gates of Vienna
on September 11, 1683...

We WILL just have to kick their @$$e$ back again in our lifetime.

If we prefer the constitutionally-based representative republic to the rule
of Shar'ia law.

Let American feminists figure out which one they prefer.
Else they will have many years to fume underneath a burqua.

Just so all of those women don't come whining to the US government to help them when their husbands run off with the children back to their Islamic/Arabic roots.

Others, notably black Americans, have found in the religion traces of their lost roots. In a tent devoted to the history of Muslims in the United States, Amir N. Muhammad presented the stories of African slaves who had tried to hold on to their Islamic heritage.

Oh, please. The least they could do was to try to study a bit of history.

The majority of slaves from Africa were from WEST Africa--which was not Muslimized. Religion in that region of the continent during the last millennium was pantheism and pagan diety worship.

Oh, and the slave traders were Arab and African--with a heavy emphasis on the former.

So much Muslim Propaganda... so many media outlets willing to regurgitate it in unbalanced reporting.

Although Muslims in the United States may disagree with some of their government's policies, "there is no conflict between being an American and being Muslim," said Soheil Ghannouchi, the Tunisian-born president of the Muslim American Society and an Annandale resident.

From ask the Imam:

Today is Thanksgiving Thursday (4th Thus. in Nov.) in USA, when Americans feast on Turkeys. Can we Muslims participate in it, by wishing and offering a Turkey to our non-Muslim friends? (see details)
However, Thanksgiving being a national holiday express its salient position in the American culture, which has many unislamic values and principles. Celebrating Thanksgiving purposefully or subordinately is an expression of accepting the general American Culture. It is not celebrated independent of the American Culture. In view of the above it is not permissible to celebrate Thanksgiving Day.

Is it allowed to obtain United States Citizenship so that travelling for deen becomes easier?
1. If your intention is solely to facilitate easier travel, you are permitted to obtain US citizenship. Although the oath of allegiance is un-Islamic in nature, it will not be treated as an 'Islamic oath'. Therefore, you are not compelled to execute the oath.

2. If you are called up to bear arms against Muslims, you are not permitted to do so by Islamic law.

3. The pledge does not constitute Ilhaad.

More "goodness" from Ask The Imam:

I think the response you gave to the man who is 45 and wishes to marry a 12yr old is purely wrong!! That is called a pedophile

Our answer is based on Shari’ah principles. What is your ideology based on?

and Allah Ta'ala Knows Best

Mufti Ebrahim Desai

In response to:

According to the Shari’ah, if a girl is a minor (did not attain puberty), she may be given in marriage by her father. When she attains puberty, she has the right to maintain the marriage or discontinue the marriage. There is no age limit to be intimate with one’s wife even if she is a minor.

More "goodness" from Ask The Imam...

Thank goodness we've got the wise and wonderful Imam-Allama-DingDong to help sort out these perplexing problems! If it weren't for his splendid, insightful explanations, someone might possibly conclude that Islam is a religion best served by kooks, criminals, and utter imbeciles. And that would be a real shame...

Portland has become haven for radicals, refugees

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
PORTLAND -- The city of roses, known for cozy coffee shops that give shelter from the winter drizzle, is also known as a refuge for religious and political radicals -- a reputation that was reinforced last week when federal officials broke up what they called a terrorist cell here.
"We have always been a little different in our thinking," said Gary Perlstein, a Portland State University criminology professor and terrorism expert. "We are a very tolerant population and so we wouldn't ask too many questions."

That tolerance helped make Portland and its neighbors a center for environmental activism, including the so-called "eco-terrorists" of the Earth Liberation Front, and also drew fugitives from 1960s- and 1970s-era groups such as the Weathermen and the Symbionese Liberation Army.

Portland's open-mindedness has also fostered a sizable Muslim community of up to 20,000 people, which is relatively large for a city of 1.5 million, experts say.

A magnet for Muslims was a Middle Eastern Studies program at Portland State University, which from the 1950's offered one of the first Arabic curricula in the United States.

All these factors may have contributed to a relatively large number of arrests of alleged terrorists and their allies in Portland since the Sept. 11 attacks last year....

It would be fair to note that this "ask the iman" thing appears to operate out of South Africa. I have no doubt, however, that many or most muslim clerics in the USA would give similar replies. It would be useful to get some of them on record with replies to such question. Of course, that would require an independent, non-PC-constrained media...never mind.

In a tent displaying lists of Palestinians killed since September 2000, Qumsiyeh gave lectures denouncing what he described as human rights violations by Israel.

I wonder if Qumsiyeh's list included those who died when their explosive belt went off in a pizza parlor or disco? It would have been neat if a real journalist had interviewed him, so we could have found out.
