MASSIVE Anti-War Rally in Westwood, CA Right Now

At approximately 3:15 I drove through Westwood, though diverted by closed streets and a huge police presence, I was able to see the makings of the largest Anti-War protest and march I have ever seen in person. I was able to see the march's origins, about a mile plus away from the Federal Building near Federal and Wilshire (ironically near the U.S. Army Reserve and large Veterans Administration facilities.)
What looked like thousands, and possibly tens of thousands, were marching towards the Federal building, site of many a protest in the past -- notable an anti-Impeachment rally featuring Barbra Streisand.
I could see the usual suspects on my drive-by: old hippies, professor types, westside lefties, anarchists looking types, certain folks pretty overt about their Marxist leanings, etc. But it could have been worse. I even yelled, "Loser" to one lady sitting with a sign on the NW corner of Sepulveda and Wilshire. (I give myself a zero for wit, but they really have me pissed off.)
I was unable to find anything in the media on this even, and even a Google newsgroup search didn't even show an announcement of this event, so I am somewhat flummoxed as to how this came to be.
I am walking there right now, and will come back to this thread later to report.

In paragraph one, you say that conservatives accomplish little when they protest. In paragraph two, you say that statists accomplish a lot when they protest.
----------------------------
Conservatives protest in tiny numbers and are no threat. Leftists protest in very large numbers and inflict damage.
I remember student protests in Iowa City 35 years ago where leftists used demolitions and blew out half the windows on the main street. They got their way.

"In paragraph two, you say that statists accomplish a lot when they protest."They succeed only when taken seriously. Which is why counter-protests are exactly the wrong thing to do.

Did you know that college freshman and sophomores are some of the most conservative bunch of kids in a dozens of years? The kids in my daughters high school out and out laugh at these ex-post-hippy lefty teachers. They are not buying into the leftist swill anymore. The leftist media is in a downward spiral because the population just does not give much credence anymore to Dr. Spock, multiculturalism, free sex and the socialist dogma that gets spewed out. Rosie left her own magazine because they were becoming too "right" for her. The top selling books on the NY Times are Conservative books!. HArry Potter and Lord of the Rings are about good-vs-evil. black and white. The top 5 FOX news show trounce ALL of MSNBC and CNN shows. During the 1980's socialist Donahue was huge and dominating, now he holds a 0.3 versus a 2.4 market share for O'Rielly. The anti-socialists are beginning to win the culture wars. The last bastions will be the public schools and academia. But the heat is on. The evolution of freedom.

At the time, it wassaid Lyndon Johnson was the first American president to be toppled by mobs, I remember it well. The centers of large cities were in flames. Roads were blocked, There were more than 500 bombings per year in this country by leftist radicals. Johnson had to give up the office.
Right now we have a weak president who didn't win a popular vote majority running against a catatonic moron. I also must regard half the people who voted for the Clintons as being psychotic and radical enough to take to the streets.
But you apparently know more about any of it than I do. So be it.

Donahue has been displaced by people nuttier than he is. His views haven't been repudiated.

The Donahue show was tops when it was the only such show in the business. Jerry Springer and a host of other idiots started in the same business and out-Donahued Donahue. Daytime TV has piles of them now.

Dear Mark,
I appreciated your comments and felt reassured by your analysis. On the other hand, the 1960's did not have a mobilized, unconventional militia attempting to assassinate our leadership, destroy our buildings, attack us in cyberspace, and undermine our economy. Did the Soviet Union attempt these strategies to undermine the capitalist markets?
I am more concerned with the appearance of duplicity between those who organize and fund socialist activities and Al Qaida. Daniel Pipes and other journalists have written expose pieces linking Al Qaida's activities to recruiting in our prison system and Muslim fundamentalism in our urban centers. To my knowledge no enemy of the United States has ever been successful in recruiting operatives within our borders in the major struggles over the last 100 years. Perhaps the closest analogy would be the recruiting of Hollywood players into Communist circles in the 1940's and 1950's. However, these individuals were not violent. It appears that Al Qaida's recruits are violent.
It is very concerning that as we debate, unionists are blocking our ports, radicals are demonstrating across our nation, and we face strategic unconventional attacks from enemy nations.
The DOD and DOJ were mobilized in 1941 and 1942 to meet a global threat. I am beginning to grow concerned that the same level of change in US society is required to meet this challenge. While I do not agree with the concept of mass incarceration and loss of habeas corpus, the nation must create a homeland security system to improve law enforcement and civil defenses.
Given the mob mentality in the radical circles, if the mob were to become armed or destructive, Los Angeles is a target rich environment with poor security. Coupling such naive people with the psyops of Al Qaida could prove disasterous to our peaceful communities.
These radicals are not patriots. They are selfish and worse, some are subversive.
I look forward to hearing our President's speech. I hope he'll come out swinging!

Ahh, I got ya, I thought you were talking about the current version of Donahue. For a news talkshow there has never been a worse host. He does fit in with Springer though. Springer is just a little more intelligent but Donhue has him beat in the emotional wreck department.
To: John Lenin
Donahue is also being eated up in the news commentary. You have idiots like Eleanor Clift and that other female fruitcake who looks like a chipmunk. The Donahue crakpotism is no longer a novelty. It's on ten different channels at different times. Even Peter Jennings is a left wing kook. But he has a lot better delivery than Donahue.

Let me put it this way. I can turn on three quarters of the talk and panel shows on TV and become enraged. Neither I or other people are dependent upon Donahue for indigestion. He's become lost in the mob.

Very well said.

they use things like mailing lists, web sites, etc, that nobody reads but them, instead of doing it out in the open - posting flyers, informing the media, got it- we're on the same page- except I can't figure out why this didn't get more coverage- I would think these folks would want all the cameras they could get.
To: fourdeuce82d
left over commies, non-us citizens, It would be interesting to find out how many on the FBI or INS watch lists were participating.
are there any more pictures?
I vote we send them to israel act as a human shield of peace to stop the homicide bombers.
To: Dog Gone
is this a real picture and are those the same signs they used during Bush Sr.'s term and W's campaign?

Thanks for the report... though I am concerned enough to believe that continued surveillance of these organizations and occasional observation reports are a useful exercise. We should not attempt to provoke these people and we should not attempt to limit their freedom of speech. However, we should prevent them from marching near our communities, businesses, and families. They can march in a park, but not on Main Street. We need to go about our daily business. They can block trade and commerce in a different town.
I'll bet that some of the black separatists and antisemetic crowd are also in the islamist camp. That would make ideological sense and you can track the recruitment patterns. It also coincides with the arrest of the cell in Oregon. I'll bet those guys were a part of the activities in the US Northwest (reported by the Seattle FR crowd).
The real question is who is funding these people. Look at the Hollywood guest list and compare to Democrat donor pools at opensecrets.org
If you find anything interesting, post it and we can all do research together.
Isn't the internet fun!
God bless America!
