There is something about dead silence and kindness that is so powerful. It makes the person being an idiot either admit it and back down, or deny that he's an idiot and make things worse. When President Bush responds with kindness, the liberals' attacks have nowhere to land, and their huffing and puffing becomes clearly childish.
