What's Left of the Left?
Conversations with Trentino ^ | Oct. 3, 2002 | Trentino

Nothing coherent. The dream of "progressivism," a new world of peace and plenty, has vanished, drowned in the blood of 100,000,000 casualties in the twentieth century--a failure everywhere it's been tried, and now stripped of any intellectual pretensions it commanded in former days.

This doesn't mean that the Left has dissolved or is without power. It means that the Left is in disarray. The Left position on the Middle East since September 11, 2001 is illustrative...more.

If Algore, Dashole, and Toricelli are examples of what the left has to offer, the cliff is just ahead...

Ultimately, all political parties stand for only one thing: Power. Yes, the Democrats and the Republicans have their own agendas -- but those agendas are largely reflective of their supporters. And increasingly, the Democratic Party is looking like a party in search of supporters on positions that no longer reflect the real world.

In Internet Exploiter, right mouse click on the picture and select "Save Picture As..." in the pop-up menu. Then direct the file where you will.

In Netscape Navigator, right mouse click on the picture and select "Save Image". Then direct the file where you will.
