Our President is getting quite adept at handling his detractors. Little Tommy might have another meltdown. LOL!

I imagine Wellstone and Harkin are going to vote against this. I wonder how that will affect their races. I wonder which other Dems in the Senate will vote against.

Any Democrat in the Senate that votes against war will never become President. Just ask the Senators who voted against going to war in 1990 if any of them ever became President.

It's understandable why Gephardt sided with Bush on the Iraq issue. While Gore and Daschle consider the left-wing anti-war nuts as their base, Gephardt has always counted on organized labor as his. Organized labor for the most part tends to be more in favor of war than any other Democrat constituency.

I think from a political point of view of positioning himself for a presidential run in 2004 Gephardt's decision was rather wise, it isn't the politically risky decision of conscience it's being made out to be, but rather one that is purposely calculated to appeal to his base
