Bush 'stole election and poisoned democracy'

Madrid - US actress Jessica Lange says she "hates" President George Bush's administration and regards a possible attack on Iraq as "unconstitutional, immoral and illegal", Spanish press reports said on Thursday.

The 53-year-old Oscar-winning actress lambasted the US government at a press conference at the San Sebastian film festival, where she received a lifetime achievement award.

"What Bush intends to do with Iraq is unconstitutional, immoral and illegal," Lange was quoted as saying.

"I hate Bush. I despise him and his entire administration - not only because of its international policy, but also the national. Today it makes me feel ashamed to come from the United States - it is humiliating."

'The atmosphere in my country is poisonous' "Bush stole the elections and since then we have all been suffering the consequences. The Iraq plan is absolutely mad, but what I do not understand is that nobody tries to stop it - neither inside nor outside the United States," the actress added.

"The atmosphere in my country is poisonous, intolerable for those of us who are not right-wing, so thank you for inviting me to this festival and allowing me to get out for a few days," Lange said on receiving the Donostia Prize, presented by Spanish actor Jose Coronado.

These DemonRats never had any problem with Bubba's foreign policy adventures ("Our policy is that we don't have one...") including "Monica's war" and bombing the Balkans for 73 days straight for reasons that the news media still won't talk about, but a country that promises to gas us and nuke us at the next opportunity is militarily off-limits. It just seems to me that an appropriate response to these show business leftists who begin to believe their own PR that they are infalable is to stop paying to see movies. If we boycotted movies and dropped gross income by 3 to 8%, the owners would begin to stop these foolish tirades. The movie you want to see will be on cable next years so why pay this sleaze or her comrades to see it this week.

Sure, she feels guilty about the wealth she has collected, knowing that she really didn't do much to earn it. Her aging groupies tell her she is wonderful but she knows better. She knows that, save for a couple of fortuitous events, she would be waiting tables some where. She has to do something that makes her appear that she is sensitive and she doesn't want to spend anything, so she shoots off her mouth. It's is her right to do so. I'm just not willing to pay to see her or her fellow travelers in a movie and listent to her slime.

The comments by Jessica's enamored fans are enough to make me throw up. In a few days, we'll see the guestbook replaced with a whiny message about how too many mean judgemental people were posting hateful messages. It's fun to get happy messages from hypnotized sheep, but it really sucks when the mainstream citizenry tells a celebrity what they really think.

You really have to love today's Billywould woman. Back when they were the pretty young starlets, there wasn't a peep from them about the diminishing roles of older actresses. Now that they are the old bags, all they can do is whine about how awful it is finding work in Billywould.

"Lifetime achievment awards" at festivals mean nada. It means, "we wanted to get some celebrities to appear but knew that we'd either have to pony up an appearance fee or given them an award; guess which option generally wins out.

Don't give these has beens acknowledgement for the current dreck that they produce, call it "lifetime achievement" and that way you can celebrate older works (like Jessica Lange's role in the 1976 remake of King Kong) without having to compete for the celeb. In 20 years, someone will propose giving Russell Crowe a lifetime achievement award to get him to go to their podunk festival (and draw out the hoi poloi to gob and gaw at the goober smoochers).

Lucky for me I am not a big TV/movie watcher. My list of exceptable celebrities is dwindiling more and more each day. Honestly, I couldn't name five movies that have been in the theater in the last year. I wish more people were like me in this regard, then a**holes like Ms. Lange wouldn't have the cashflow to be jetting off to Spain to spout her mouth off.

OTOH, look how hateful her speech is. I thought only Republicans were so hateful?
