Its on. He didn't resign his seat, only trying to get his name removed from the ballot. So they'll go through legal battle that they know they'll likely lose, but delay things past Saturday. So then they'll claim that they have no choice, and do the 1 year delayed election, and claim that they had no intention of delaying the election, but they ran out of time and were left with that as the only option, else abortion will be banned and women forced into burkas, the forest will be bulldozed, and the Great Depression will begin.

If they play that, we've got them across the country:
"The Democrats cancelled an election to preserve their political power."

How ANYONE could do anything to keep this mafia in power (stay home, vote third-party) is beyond me.

So then they'll claim that they have no choice, and do the 1 year delayed election,...

They can't do that. There's already Supreme Court precedent that says the election to replace resigned Senators must take place on the next regular election day. That day is November 5, 2002.

And Torch can't wait until November 6 either, and then quit and have McGreevey name a replacement. That's a direct violation of the Seventeenth Amendment, because it takes away the public's right to elect its own Senator.

The RATS' only hope is to be able to play the court system in hopes of getting some well-known name forced onto the ballot before 11/5. Unless they can pull that off (and there's plenty of reason to believe even that would be unconstitutional, though it appears to be untested), then Forrester has already won.

And then Armageddon will begin.

But seriously, can they delay the scheduled election just because their candidate dropped out? What about all of the elections nation wide wherein candidates run unopposed?
