Right.

They can try to take the other read. In so doing, they would really fire up our side for this coming election, nationwide.

And the SCOTUS would likely strike down their efforts, for the reason you stated.

Your correct.....under NJ State Law...if the Torch resigns from the Senate with less than 30 days before the election the "new Senator" doesnt have to stand for election for 2 years.....

I believe they do. Remember, Bill and Hill are running the show. They will stop AT NOTHING to keep power.

You got that right

Repubmommy, come vent here.

I am furious. Wonder how many lawyers McAuliffe's had working on this.

What if Torch resigns today because more news about his fraud and deceit is set to break. What if the media is ready to roll with it? This way Torch can go into hiding and not answer any further questions and or defend himself at this time. He can literally say I am resigning for the good of the Party and the good people of NJ and have the new candidate with him. Look whos on podium with him when the show starts , there is your next rat candidate if he resigns.

Good point. Hope you are right. I don't trust the Dems, however and remember, Clinton has stacked the courts as well.

We all know the democRATS will try and cheat the system any way they can. I did tread that they had until Sept. 15th to make a change, and that time has passed

Not correct. Even under the reading of the law that would allow them to cancel this November's Sentate election, it would be next November (that being the second general election from the point of resignation).

But there is no way the SCOTUS would allow them to pull a scheme to extend a 6 year term into a 7 year term, especially by a law that would allow them to do that again and again and again as long as they controlled the governorship.

Not to mention who else may be implicated. There's been many posts on FR about Chang's connection to McAuliffe and Clinton.

"If Torricelli resigned his seat, New Jersey's Democratic Gov. James McGreevey could appoint his replacement.  While the deadline for being listed on the New Jersey ballot passed earlier this month, that deadline might be waived, although it could take a court ruling, a Democratic source said.

Speculation on a possible replacement for Torricelli jumped immediately from Democratic Reps. Robert Menendez or Frank Pallone Jr., or former Sen. Frank Lautenberg."

So if the Torch says I'm resigning effective _____ (within 30 days of the election), the Gov can appoint someone to serve in his stead for two years and the election's off?

And they are going to trash all of the money and time that Forrester has put into THIS election, and the state of NJ is just going to write it off?

I don't think so.

Forrester would have a slam dunk in any court in the country, up to and including the Supremes.

Could the dim Governor appoint someone like Lisa Beamer as a Democrat to 'look' non-partisan?

I'd put my life savings (e.g. the contents of my change jar) on the Torch resigning, but making it effective as of the end of the Senate's term.

But could it get through the US Supreme court system before Torch was appointed to the office for another 2 years?
