They are just going to illegally try to shoehorn some other Dem jackass onto the ballot. So that's the finess. But aren't the ballots printed already? Isn't the deadline passed to be included? Looks like, kowing they have lost Torch's seat, they are trying to pull a FLA 2000 style end-run around the law. Or at least, to have an issue to drum up the dim base in the other races.

And not ONE word in that article about deadlines passed and the Torch losing....shouldn't be pissed but I am.

I love live threads here ar FR. There is no other experience like it, even if one is not contributing to it. It is like watching a live event in a room with a hundreds of your best friends.
I agree, I decided to follow his "news conference" by reading this thread rather than watching it, it is much more enjoyable.

The Dems are going to try something - but I think if we just call it a "bait and switch", we'll do VERY well. It's gonna be ugly for the Dems.
To: Wphile
He pulled out, not resigning, asking a court to let them add another Democrat to the ticket.
You'll have to read these latest posts to understand whether people think it can or cannot be done the way they're acting like they are going to do it.
(He cried...and thanked Clinton........barf!)
Torricelli Quits NJ Senate RaceGuardian - 10 minutes ago
Democratic Sen. Robert Torricelli abruptly dropped his re-election bid Monday - just five weeks before Election Day - after a bruising year marked by ethics questions and an admonishment by his colleagues.

Here's the law:
NJ State Law.19:3-26. Vacancies in United States senate; election to fill; temporary appointment by governor If a vacancy shall happen in the representation of this state in the United States senate, it shall be filled at the general election next succeeding the happening thereof, unless such vacancy shall happen within thirty days next preceding such election, in which case it shall be filled by election at the second succeeding general election, unless the governor of this state shall deem it advisable to call a special election therefor, which he is authorized hereby to do. The governor of this state may make a temporary appointment of a senator of the United States from this state whenever a vacancy shall occur by reason of any cause other than the expiration of the term; and such appointee shall serve as such senator until a special election or general election shall have been held pursuant to law and the board of state canvassers can deliver to his successor a certificate of election.

It's meant to highlight the obstructionist nature of the Democrats. They stall on everything else, and yet jump on this. I won't believe it anymore when Daschle says that it takes time to call for a vote, that it takes time for committees to get documents, that it takes time to call witnesses...

Don't worry, the democrats are in deep doo doo, this might help a little in New Jersey, But the rest of the country might just react to this obvious attempt to thwart the system. THE RATS ARE IN SHAMBLES AND GOING DOWN IN FLAMES
To: MJY1288
he will say he was forced to by the republicans and now there will be a special election in a year so that who ever the Governor appoints will have a fair campaign for the seat. WATCH, this is what they will do How frightening and a typical Rat maneuver but he would have to do so before Saturday (or so I thought Judge Napolitano said on Foxnews).
To: Howlin
It was detailed on Fox and on a previous post here. It came from NJ law on the matter. It may be that the Democraps think that would provoke too much outrage....However, They can pull that rabbit out of the hat right up til election...

I'm wondering the same thing. They must really, really have some bad poll numbers.
To: justshe
Cool, I gave all I could this month :-)
To: Howlin
Why and the h*ll did he thank Clinton? I need a smoke.
To: MichaelP
If there is an election in November, who the hell cares if he resigns after that date or before that date?
From what you are saying, anyone who loses the election in power could cause a second election by quiting, even if they lost the recent election itself. Sounds like a no-way situation to me.
To: Inspectorette; Howlin
That is a thoroughly nauseating and infuriating thought if there ever was one but I just don't see it happening. Not that he wouldn't want it mind you. He'd do anything for power. I just don't think that Daschle, Corzinne, Kerry, Liberman, Edwards will want to play third fiddle to 2 Clintons. That is too horrible to stomach even for democrats. Heck, I'm not so sure that PIAPS would go for it herself.
To: slimer
Al Gore will replace the Torch.Oh, great. Replace one piece of wood with another!
To: Wphile
Fox just said that Clinton COULD set up residency in NJ by Monday and run.
To: VRWC_minion
yes... that is the intent, but.... will it work?
