09/27/2002
The State Fair of Texas opens its gates Friday morning with weather that's sure to earn the Big Tex seal of approval.
The weekend forecast calls for warm days in the low 90s and cool nights in the mid 60s, forecasters said.
WFAA-TV Clear skies over Dallas were a good omen for fairgoers. |
"It looks beautiful," National Weather Service Meteorologist Steve Fano said, "but it's a little bit warmer than normal."
High temperatures Friday are expected to hit near 90 with lows in the mid 60s, he said. Saturday high temperatures will reach the low 90s with lows in the mid 60s.
The outlook for Sunday through Tuesday is much the same, with high temperatures near 90 and low temperatures in the mid 60s, Mr. Fano said.
The rest of the state will see a similar forecast with the exception of the Panhandle, where a cold front is expected to lower high temperatures to the mid 80s and low temperatures to the 40s.
A weak cold front is in the forecast for North Texas on Wednesday with a chance for rain on Thursday, Mr. Fano said.
