SUSPECTED... not proven to be Anthrax.

Unclear which building was effected but sounded like it was the CAPITOL building itself... and upwards of 500 people were in the building at the time and have all been evacuated... Package was postmarked from pakistan according to follow up reports on KPAM...

The suspicions were repeated to be potentially Anthrax...

BREAKING NEWS: Mysterious Powder Found in Oregon Capitol

The Oregon Capitol building was evacuated Wednesday after an envelope bearing a Pakistani postmark was found to contain white powder, police said.

"We got a call saying that there was an envelope with a Pakistani postmark that was opened to reveal a large amount of white powder," said Lt. Bill Kohlmeyer, a spokesman for the Salem police.

Kohlmeyer said he didn't know if the envelope contained a letter.

The envelope was found in a third-floor mailroom, said Oregon State Police Lt. Glenn Chastain. He said the person who opened the envelope, as well as several state troopers called to the scene, were still in the mailroom, apparently to isolate them.

He said no one had fallen ill from the powder.

A hazardous materials team was brought in to investigate, said Herb Colomb, building manager at the Capitol. Dozens of police and fire vehicles surrounded the building, and the street in front of the Capitol was blocked off.

Gov. John Kitzhaber was not in the Capitol when the envelope was discovered, but was giving a speech at a forestry conference at Willamette University.
