Miss New Jersey's prejudiced question
Posted on 09/24/2002 6:49:26 PM PDT by max epr
Question: Is it true that, at the Miss America pageant, a question was asked of Miss New Jersey (Miss Lucia) about the Sopranos? No other Americans must put up with such insults. Since there's no one else to bash the dogs are unleashed against Americans of Italian without any hindrance. this site gleefully joins the chorus.

You've given me serval obscure films here. I've mention top series that lasted for years and Film that were jackpots. I have to tell you, I believe you to be a rather neurologically disenfranchized and obstinant person.

It's nice to hear that someone shares my feelings. I, too, love Leone. The man is (was?) brilliant and had a great deal to say. I am constantly surprized that, when "Once Upon the Time in the West" comes on TV, I am still drawn to it and finish watching it. This does not happen with any other movie.
If I were in the movie business and specialized in westerns, I would retire after "Once Upon the Time in the West." There is simply nothing to add.
I was sorry to hear recently that it was not a commercial success becauase it was three hours long. Well, that's understandable: the American audiences do not concentrate on presidential elections for three hours; one cannot expect them to make an exception for a movie.
Regardless of the financial side, he will probably be remembered as the one that made teh greatest American Western.

Outrage:
Not only should all Americans of Italian descent be upset
but all European Italians and all from the Italian Province of New Guinea should be ticked!

You've given me serval obscure films here. YUP! You got me there. Once Upon A Time In America, L.A. Confidential, Bugsy, Casino. Who ever heard of those "obscure" flicks?
I've mention top series that lasted for years and Film that were jackpots.
Including The Untouchables which had Jake Guzik as a running character in the series.
I have to tell you, I believe you to be a rather neurologically disenfranchized and obstinant person.
Sniff! Thank you for pointing out the error of my ways. I am glad you have made me realize just how obscure Once Upon A Time In America and L.A. Confidential were.

You don't see movies or TV series centered on people such as Siegel, Buchalter, Cohen, etc. Check out the film Casino directed by Martin Scorsese, whose main character was casino magnate/gangster "Ace" Rothstein. Bugsy Siegel was also profiled in several films, such as Bugsy starring Warren Beatty.

I second you guys' comments about Once Upon a Time in the West. Mesmerizing. If I start to watch it, I can't stop watching until the very end.

Check out the film Casino directed by Martin Scorsese, whose main character was casino magnate/gangster "Ace" Rothstein. And he lives here in South Florida. In fact, today I was only a few blocks away from him.
